FAVOURITE CHILD is a 51.7-metre performance sailing ketch built by the New Zealand yard Alloy Yachts and delivered in 2006, comprehensively refitted in 2022 and updated again in 2026. Designed externally by Dubois Naval Architects and styled internally by London-based Redman Whiteley Dixon (RWD), she is a yacht that balances genuine sailing capability with the kind of interior quality typically associated with larger motor yachts.
RWD’s interior uses walnut and wenge woods with dark chocolate leather accents to create a warm, sophisticated atmosphere throughout the accommodation and social spaces. The main saloon is divided into several discrete areas to give guests the sense of being in a large, well-planned home: a bar, a lounge and an elegant dining area for ten all occupy the same level without feeling crowded, with wide flanking windows keeping the sea always in view.
With a range of 5,000 nautical miles and a cruising speed of 12 knots under power, FAVOURITE CHILD has the capability to undertake serious voyages comfortably. Her single Caterpillar diesel engine provides reliable propulsion while the ketch rig delivers exhilarating sailing performance across a wide range of conditions.
Accommodation sleeps up to 10 guests across five staterooms including a full-beam master suite, two VIP cabins and two twin cabins, all with en-suite facilities. A deck Jacuzzi, gym and a comprehensive water toy collection round out the on-board offering. Charter from €210,000 per week.
Favourite Child delivers the experience that only a true performance sailing yacht can offer. Deck layout, rig geometry and hull form are all optimised for blue-water passage-making. Going to windward in a brisk breeze, running trade winds downwind or reaching across open ocean, every aspect of sailing Favourite Child rewards the engaged charterer with a connection to the sea that no motor yacht can replicate.
The main salon of Favourite Child is a considered and generous open-plan living and dining area that uses the finest materials, furniture and lighting to create a space that feels as refined and comfortable as a top private residence. Large windows ensure natural light throughout the day, and the natural flow from salon to aft deck makes indoor-outdoor living completely effortless.
The master suite of Favourite Child occupies the finest position on the yacht for privacy and natural light. A king-sized bed, sitting area, his-and-hers dressing facilities and a premium stone en-suite bathroom with shower and bath create a private retreat of the highest calibre, one that compares favourably with the finest suites in any shore-based five-star hotel.
Between passages, Favourite Child’s cockpit and deck areas become the social heart of the charter. A generous cockpit with built-in seating and sunbeds, shaded helm station and foredeck lounging areas give guests multiple outdoor options. The rig overhead frames every view with the elegant geometry of a real working sailing yacht.
The sky lounge of Favourite Child is a versatile social space with plush sofas, a bar, and a premium entertainment system. It moves naturally between relaxed daytime lounge and the centre of evening social life as the hours progress, and its elevated panoramic windows make it popular at all hours.
