About Pink Shadow

Pink Shadow is a Damen SeaXplorer 58, delivered in 2023, and she is one of the few charter
yachts in the world where the marketing language about going anywhere is simply an accurate
description of the specification. Her hull is ice-classed. She carries 30 days of autonomy and
a 5,000-mile range. Her foredeck is a certified helipad. The engineering is Damen’s commercial
heritage applied to a private yacht, and it means an Antarctic itinerary is a scheduling
question rather than an aspiration.

What makes her interesting is that none of this arrives with the grim, grey utility that
usually accompanies it. Azure Naval Architects drew an exterior in deep olive green that took
its class at the 2024 Boat International Design and Innovation Awards, and Design Unlimited
styled an interior that is one of the most committed pieces of decoration afloat. The main
saloon runs to plum velvet, a vintage trunk for a coffee table, a wine display built into the
joinery and a carved figure standing where the room opens through to the dining table. Off the
main lobby there is a bar with sea-green cabinetry, a mustard velvet banquette and a pink neon
sign spelling her name. On a 58-metre ice-class explorer it should be absurd. It is the best
room aboard.

The outdoor spaces carry the same conviction. Carved timber columns run floor to deckhead
around deep navy banquettes on the shaded main deck, open to the sea on both sides — textured
and hand-worked, closer to architecture than to yacht joinery. The transom folds down into a
teak beach club that opens on both sides as well as aft, so the whole stern becomes a deck a
few inches above the water, laid out with parasols, loungers and a round daybed. Tenders and
toys come out of the side shell rather than off the swim platform, which keeps the beach club
usable while the operation runs.

Six cabins sleep twelve, and no two of them share a scheme. The master is wrapped in
hand-painted floral murals under a teal lacquered ceiling and a crystal chandelier, with a
deep red velvet headboard and louvred blinds down the window line. A guest cabin is papered in
charcoal jungle leaves with a shell-form ceiling light. The twin sets two berths with buttoned
red velvet headboards against a soft botanical paper. Every room was decorated as its own
project, and the effect is a yacht that feels collected over time rather than delivered in one
piece.

There is a quieter register too: a club lounge panelled in warm timber with leather chairs, a
burgundy chesterfield, a brass telescope on a tripod and skylights letting daylight into the
middle of the room. It is where people end up reading.

Fifteen crew run her for twelve guests. Her season splits between both Mediterranean basins in
summer and South America and Antarctica in the winter months, which is an itinerary almost no
other yacht at this level of finish can actually offer. For a charter party that wants genuine
range and remote-water capability without giving up a decorated, characterful interior, she
occupies a category with very few competitors in it.
