About STARLUST

Abeking & Rasmussen build perhaps three yachts a year. STARLUST, delivered in 2020, is the one that argued hardest for giving the owner a whole deck.

Her owner’s deck is not a stateroom with a private terrace bolted on. It is a floor: master cabin, en suite, a separate vanity room, a private office, an entertainment room and its own lounging deck aft, all of it behind a single door. Guests never pass through it. On a 68-metre yacht that is a real decision about volume, and it shapes everything below.

The main deck then belongs to everyone else. A VIP sits alongside three doubles and a twin – five guest cabins for twelve, each en suite. The main salon runs wide with glass down both sides and a dining table forward. Aft, a curved bar stands at the head of the deck with a round table under the overhang behind it, which is where most charter parties end up eating when the weather holds.

Focus Yacht Design drew both the exterior and the interior, and the consistency shows. Her profile is pale grey, low and long. Inside, dark figured veneer runs against cream leather and sand-coloured carpet, and every guest cabin takes a different painted panel behind the bed – ammonites in one, bamboo in the next, a pale reef pattern in the twin. It is a quiet way to give six rooms six identities.

The lower deck is where she earns her charter reputation. A gym sits amidships with a treadmill, a spin bike, a reformer and a rack of weights and medicine balls, lit by three portholes at the waterline. Next to it, a treatment room with a masseuse aboard, and a hammam finished in banded mosaic. Aft of both, the beach club opens onto a teak swimming platform at sea level, loungers out, wetsuits racked along the bulkhead – the natural gathering point once the toys come out.

Up top, the sun deck puts a curved bar right beside the jacuzzi, sun pads either side and shade from the deck above.

She was delivered as SOARING and won an International Superyacht Society award under that name before changing hands in 2023. Two MTUs give 16 knots flat out and 12 in normal passage, with 1,541 gross tons of volume and a 4,500-mile range behind them. A crew of seventeen looks after twelve guests.

Her summers run the eastern Mediterranean – Greece, Montenegro and Turkey – with a limousine tender, a second tender, waverunners and SeaBobs aboard for the island hopping that season implies.

One practical note worth reading before enquiring: she is registered under the Yacht Engaged in Trade scheme. Mediterranean charters must begin in the South of France, Monaco or Corsica, and the principal charterer must be a non-EU resident. That narrows who can book her, but it is also part of why a yacht of this quality remains available at all.

For a group that wants a modern German-built yacht where the owner’s accommodation is genuinely separate and the wellness spaces are real rather than nominal, she is a short list of one at this size.
