About UNWINED

The Westport 112 is one of the most quietly successful hulls the American industry has produced, and UNWINED is a well-kept example working the water it was designed for. Delivered in 2005 and refitted since, she runs the Bahamas year-round – not as a seasonal visitor but as a yacht based where her shallow draft and 29-knot top end actually pay off.

That pairing is the point. A shallow draft opens the Exumas, the sandbars and the cuts that deeper hulls have to work around, and the speed means a charter week is not spent transiting. Gregory C. Marshall drew the exterior and Westport did the naval architecture; the hull is composite throughout, which keeps weight down and is a large part of why she carries 24 knots as a genuine cruising speed rather than a brochure figure.

The interior is high-gloss American joinery of the period, and it has been kept crisp: dark cherry cabinetry against pale carpet and cream upholstery, with polished stone in the heads. The main saloon runs long and open, a seating group aft under a wide television and a separate formal dining table forward for eight beneath a coffered deckhead. The saloon is the only interior sitting room she photographs, but it is a long one, and the hardtop flybridge above takes on the evening duty that a sky lounge would otherwise carry.

Four cabins sleep eight. The master is full-beam and generously proportioned, with the bed set athwartships against a mirrored bulkhead and his-and-hers marble bathrooms rather than a single shared head. Two guest doubles sit forward and aft on the lower deck, both with ensuites, and a twin completes the arrangement. Every cabin has its own bathroom finished in stone, and the twin’s head is full-size rather than the day-head compromise usual at this length.

Her exterior spaces are unusually complete for a 34-metre yacht, because the flybridge is enormous. It carries a full wet bar with stools, a grill, a dining table, a helm station and loungers, all under a hardtop, and it is where most of the day happens. The aft deck seats eight around a varnished table with a settee outboard, and the swim platform sits low with a hydraulic passerelle for easy water access. A sundeck jacuzzi converts to a raised sunbed when it is not wanted.

What sets her apart from other Westport 112s on the market is the tender programme. She tows a 35-foot Boston Whaler Outrage, re-engined in 2023 with three 400-horsepower outboards and outfitted for offshore fishing – a serious boat in its own right, not a runabout. Alongside it sit a 17-foot AB RIB, two Yamaha WaveRunners, two Jobe underwater scooters, paddleboards, clear kayaks, a floating pad and full snorkelling and waterski kit. Starlink keeps the yacht connected across the banks, and televisions run to the aft deck and flybridge. Four crew operate her, and the layout gives them a proper galley and mess separated from guest circulation.

Her bridge is worth a mention because it is glass on three sides and sits high, and the flybridge helm above it duplicates the electronics – so the yacht can be run from the weather or from the air conditioning depending on the day. For a charter guest that translates into something simple: the boat moves when the weather says move, and the crew are never far from the guests while doing it.
