Astondoa / Astondoa Ax8
The Astondoa Ax8 is the crossover member of the Spanish yard’s range, an 80-foot yacht that sets out to feel larger than its numbers suggest. Astondoa describes it as created to be lived, and the whole boat is organised around habitability: open exterior spaces that connect to the sea, and interiors flooded with light through oversized windows.
At 24.46 metres overall with a 6.22-metre beam, the Ax8 carries real volume, and the design uses it for living rather than performance. The main deck opens up into a bright saloon, while the exterior decks are laid out for lounging, dining and time at anchor. The styling is contemporary and clean, with the glazing doing much of the work to connect guests to the water around them.
Inside, Astondoa worked with the Cristiano Gatto Design studio, a name well known in the superyacht world, to give the Ax8 an interior that reads as bespoke rather than production. Four cabins sleep eight guests, with two crew cabins aft so the boat can be run with full-time service. Materials and textures are chosen for a modern, tactile feel, and the large windows keep every space in touch with the daylight and the view.
Under way, the Ax8 is powered by Volvo Penta IPS1350 pod drives. This is not a boat chasing top speed: it tops around 23.5 knots and settles to an economical 15-knot cruise, with a range of roughly 420 nautical miles from its 7,100-litre tanks. The crossover hull is tuned for stability and an easy motion, matching the yacht’s brief as a comfortable, stable platform rather than a sports cruiser.
Built at Astondoa’s Santa Pola yard and classed by RINA, the Ax8 offers commercial-grade oversight on a private owner’s yacht. On the brokerage and new-build market it is offered from around 5.19 million euros ex yard, with some listings quoting higher depending on tax and specification. For an owner who wants an 80-foot yacht that feels like a floating home, with a designer interior and genuine deck space, the Ax8 makes a distinctive alternative to the more performance-focused boats in its size class.

The Ax8 runs on twin Volvo Penta IPS1350 pod drives, reaching around 23.5 knots top and cruising economically near 15 knots. With 7,100 litres of fuel it offers a range of roughly 420 nautical miles. The crossover hull is tuned for stability and a soft ride rather than outright speed, in keeping with the yacht’s focus on comfort.
Contemporary and clean, the Ax8 is defined by its glazing. XXL windows wrap the superstructure and hull, opening the interior to the sea, while wide exterior decks give owners room to lounge, dine and relax at anchor. The emphasis throughout is on space and daylight.
The interior is the work of Cristiano Gatto Design, giving the Ax8 a bespoke, superyacht feel. Four cabins sleep eight guests, served by two crew cabins aft. Oversized windows and modern materials keep the accommodation bright and tactile.
Astondoa built the Ax8 around living aboard. The main-deck saloon flows to the exterior, the decks are laid out for entertaining, and the connection between inside and outside is constant. It is a yacht designed for long stays rather than quick runs.
Built at Santa Pola and classed by RINA, the Ax8 is offered from around 5.19 million euros ex yard, with delivery quoted at roughly eight months from order. Options and tax treatment move the delivered figure, so buyers should confirm specification with the yard or broker.
