Forty five knots from a 22 footer is not typical. Getting there this smoothly is rarer still.
The standard Mercury FourStroke 115 is enough for confident cruising, but the range tops out with a 175hp ProXS that unlocks the full 45 knots, settling into a 25 knot cruise for longer runs. The twin stepped hull mixes air beneath the running surface with water, cutting drag and keeping bow lift to a minimum through acceleration. Turns are flatter than a conventional deep vee would allow, and she tracks cleanly in a crosswind rather than fighting the helm. It is a genuinely comfortable ride by sports boat standards, not just a fast one.
She reads as low, long and purposeful, a shape built for speed rather than volume.
The hull is hand laid with a foam core for weight saving and a vinyl ester first coat for osmosis protection, construction choices that favour durability over shortcuts. At 7.2 metres length and a trailerable 2.23 metre beam, with a draught of just 0.8 metres, she keeps a low, taut profile that marks the shift in Axopar’s own design language, from utilitarian workboat roots toward something with genuine sporting intent. Displacement of 1,200 kilograms keeps her light on the trailer and quick off the mark, two qualities that matter as much at the ramp as they do on the water.
The console does more work than its size suggests.
Behind the leather wrapped wheel, two adjustable captain’s chairs rotate to face aft when the boat is at rest, and an adjustable windscreen lays back for speed or sits upright for shelter from wind and spray. Inside the console itself is a genuine toilet compartment with a washbasin, a rare inclusion at this size, paired with a self draining cockpit floor and twin automatic bilge pumps backed up by a manual option. None of it is decorative. Every element earns its place on a hull built to be used hard and cleaned quickly.
Eight guests, one boat, no cabin required.
The cockpit is open and sociable, built around a T-Top that shades the helm without closing in the deck. An optional U shaped aft lounge converts the stern into genuine seating for entertaining at anchor, and a telescopic swim ladder tucks under the port duckboard for easy access back aboard after a swim. With no cabin and no crew to accommodate, every part of her footprint is given over to the people on board, which is exactly the appeal for an owner who wants a boat built purely for daytime use.
The 22 T-Top is an easy boat to own and a straightforward one to specify.
She is offered from 65,000 euros with the 115hp Mercury FourStroke as standard, through a 150hp option to the 175hp ProXS at the top of the range. A 230 litre tank gives a 200 nautical mile range at cruising speed, and day capacity runs to eight guests with no cabin or crew to factor into the equation. Naval architecture, exterior and interior design and engineering are all handled in house by Axopar’s own team, keeping the specification consistent across the range. For a compact, trailerable day boat with genuine sports boat performance, she is a considered entry point rather than a stripped down one.
