Forty knots flat out, and she gets there without drama.
Bertram offers the 50 Sport with a standard twin MAN V8 1200 package, backed by optional twin Caterpillar C12.9 or Volvo Penta D13 installations, each tuned to the same brief: a 30 knot cruise and 40 knots at the top end. The planing hull carries a 1.5 metre draught, shallow enough for skinnier anchorages than her length would suggest. Range runs to 400 nautical miles, drawn from a 3,000 litre fuel capacity, enough to cover a full coastal run without a refuelling stop. It is a straightforward, honest performance brief: real speed and real range, delivered without complication.
Her lines are drawn for speed, not for show.
Bertram’s in-house design team kept the profile low and purposeful: a sharp sheer line, a deep-V bow built to cut through a chop rather than ride over it, and an open cockpit that runs straight into the deck plan without a step. The result reads as a sport boat rather than a cruiser, even with two full cabins tucked below. Fibreglass construction throughout keeps weight down and the hull stiff at speed, while a planing configuration gives her the agility to carve a tight turn rather than lean wide into it. Nothing about the exterior is decorative. Every surface, from the foredeck sunpad to the aft bulwarks, is there to support a day spent moving fast.
Day guests and overnighters share the same deck without getting in each other’s way.
Twelve guests can gather for a day on the water, spread across an open cockpit and deck plan that Bertram has kept intentionally uncluttered. Below, the arrangement turns more private: two cabins sleep up to eight, enough for a genuine overnight or weekend without feeling like a compromise. The single crew berth lets an owner run the boat with minimal help, a detail that matters on a boat built as much for owner operation as for crewed cruising. Deck and cabin spaces connect rather than separate, so the move from a sun soaked cockpit to an air conditioned saloon takes seconds, not a deliberate change of plan.
Below decks, the Bertram 50 Sport trades flash for comfort.
Two cabins give her a genuine overnight capability, each finished with the kind of detailing that makes a weekend aboard feel like a stay rather than a stopover. Joinery and upholstery carry the same attention through both the owner’s and guest spaces, with storage built into every corner rather than left as an afterthought. It is a compact footprint by design, not by necessity. Every square metre below decks earns its place, and the two cabin, eight guest arrangement keeps the accommodation proportionate to a boat built first for speed and second for overnighting.
She is a Bertram through and through, engineered and dressed entirely in-house.
Naval architecture, exterior and interior design all come from Bertram’s own teams, with the Bertram Engineering Department responsible for the mechanical package beneath the hull. That single source approach keeps the 50 Sport consistent, nothing borrowed or bolted on from outside. At 15.2 metres, with a 4.9 metre beam and capacity for twelve day guests and eight overnighters, she sits at the entry point to Bertram’s current range without compromising on the construction or performance the name is built on. For an owner wanting real pace and a usable layout in a manageable size, she is the direct route in.
