Forty five knots flat out, and she barely notices the chop getting there.
The standard Mercury Verado 400 gives the 39CC her edge, with Yamaha 425 XTO and Suzuki DF350A listed as alternative outboard packages for owners who prefer a different brand on the transom. Cruising sits at a composed 30 knots, a speed the deep V hull holds through a short sea without punishing anyone on board. A 1,500 litre fuel capacity extends her range to around 300 nautical miles, enough for a full day’s run to the canyons and back with margin to spare. For a centre console built to fish hard and cruise far, that combination of pace and endurance is the entire point.
The silhouette is pure Bertram: low, lean, and built around a deep V entry.
A wide T top shades the helm and much of the walkways, and four helm seats face forward so the whole crew sees the water ahead rather than just the driver. The beam, a generous 3.8 metres against a 12 metre length, gives her a planted, stable stance at rest and under way, which matters more than styling on a boat meant to fish offshore. Bertram’s in-house team drew the hull and the deck together, keeping the lines continuous from bow to transom. Nothing about her reads as decorative. Every surface earns its place on a boat built first for the water, second for the eye.
More than twenty rod holders tell you who the 39CC was built for.
The cockpit is organised around serious fishing: dedicated livewells, a bait preparation station, and deep in-floor storage that keeps the deck clear when the lines are out. A centreline locker aft houses the pumps and raw water intake, with room for an optional gyroscopic stabiliser for owners who want a steadier platform at rest. Seating for eight means the whole group has a place forward when running, not just the angler. By evening, the same deck converts easily to entertaining space, wide enough for guests to move around without stepping over tackle or coolers.
Below deck, the 39CC quietly becomes a cruiser.
Two cabins sleep up to four guests, reached through a door beside the helm rather than a separate companionway, which keeps the cockpit layout clean above. A proper head with a shower, air conditioning, and a berth large enough for genuine overnight use mean she is not just a day boat pretending to have accommodation. A sunpad above the forward berth and built-in storage through the seating and cockpit compartments round out a layout that asks a 12 metre centre console to do more than most of her rivals attempt.
Bertram’s first centre console in thirty years arrives with the brand’s full weight behind it.
She is the opening model in a new outboard powered range from a yard better known for deep V sportfishing convertibles, and the pedigree shows in details most entry level centre consoles skip: a proper two cabin layout, a full fishing outfit, and a choice of three major outboard brands on the transom. Bertram’s own engineering team built her from the ground up rather than adapting an existing hull, which shows in how composed she feels for her size. For a first time Bertram owner, or a second boat for someone trading down from a larger flybridge, the 39CC is a considered, well specified way in.
