Cantiere delle Marche / Cantiere delle Marche Flexplorer 165
The Flexplorer 165 is the flagship of Cantiere delle Marche’s most ambitious explorer line, a 49.9-metre steel-hulled yacht built around the idea of carrying everything an owner could want into the most remote cruising grounds on earth. The Flexplorer concept, developed with Hydro Tec, centres on a vast, reconfigurable foredeck cargo and toy area capable of swallowing large tenders, a submarine, vehicles or expedition equipment, served by a heavy-duty crane. At 165 feet she takes that idea to full superyacht scale while staying under 500 gross tonnes.
Twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines of 970 kW each give her a 15-knot maximum, and 57,000 litres of fuel deliver a 4,800-nautical-mile range at 10 knots for genuine transoceanic reach. Twelve guests are accommodated in five cabins, with ten crew in six cabins supporting the service and operational demands of true expedition cruising. The 9-metre beam and 4.25-metre depth create exceptional interior and stowage volume.
Built to order at the CdM yard in Ancona, the Flexplorer 165 combines a shallow 2.30-metre draught with serious load-carrying capability and long-range self-sufficiency. For owners who treat a yacht as a base for genuine adventure, she is among the most capable expedition platforms available below 500 gross tonnes.

Twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines of 970 kW each drive the Flexplorer 165 to a 15-knot maximum, with a full-displacement hull tuned for efficient long-range passage-making. A 4,800-nautical-mile range at 10 knots, drawn from 57,000 litres of fuel, supports ocean crossings and extended time in remote waters. The heavy load-carrying brief is reflected in a robust steel hull and generous tankage, including 8,500 litres of fresh water. Two pairs of CMC electric stabiliser fins and a 110 kW bow thruster keep the yacht comfortable and manoeuvrable, while the shallow 2.30-metre draught preserves anchorage access despite her size and carrying capacity.
Hydro Tec shaped the Flexplorer 165 around its signature cargo capability. The expansive foredeck deck, cleared and reinforced for heavy loads and served by a substantial crane, is the yacht’s organising idea, able to carry large tenders, a submersible, vehicles or expedition gear. Behind it rises a purposeful superstructure with a commanding wheelhouse and well-protected decks for safe operation at sea. Steel below and aluminium above balance strength with weight control at just under 500 gross tonnes. Aft and on the upper decks, generous guest areas deliver the outdoor living expected of a superyacht, so the Flexplorer serves equally as a serious work platform and a luxurious home afloat.
The Flexplorer 165 accommodates twelve guests across five cabins, the maximum typically permitted on a private yacht of this class. The 9-metre beam and 4.25-metre depth create generous stateroom volumes, with a main-deck owner’s suite taking pride of place. Guest cabins on the lower deck each have private facilities. Ten crew are housed in six cabins with a dedicated mess, reflecting the higher operational demands of an expedition yacht that handles substantial cargo and equipment. CdM’s semi-custom process lets owners specify the interior designer, layout and finishes to suit extended periods aboard in varied climates.
Despite its working brief, the Flexplorer 165 offers the full range of superyacht living spaces. The main salon provides a bright, spacious interior that opens aft to a sheltered deck for dining and relaxation. Upper-deck lounges and a sun deck with spa pool, bar and shaded seating deliver elevated outdoor living, while the aft decks and bathing platform create a beach club for swimming and water sports. The cargo foredeck, once unloaded, converts into an exceptional open-air space for gatherings, a helicopter, or simply enjoying the view, giving the Flexplorer a flexibility of use that few yachts can match.
Cantiere delle Marche builds each Flexplorer 165 to order in Ancona, classed to RINA and kept under 500 gross tonnes to preserve operational flexibility. The steel hull, heavy-duty cargo deck and crane, 57,000-litre fuel capacity and comprehensive stabiliser package are engineered for genuine expedition use anywhere in the world. Ten crew berths and extensive stowage support long, self-sufficient voyages far from support. As the flagship of the Flexplorer line and the embodiment of CdM’s load-carrying philosophy, the 165 is a specialised, highly capable platform for owners whose cruising is defined by what they can bring with them.
