Dehler / Dehler 34
Dehler’s 34 occupies the sweet spot where weekend racing ambition meets family cruising comfort. Drawn by judel/vrolijk on a beamy 3.47-metre hull, she carries a generous sail plan relative to her waterline, giving the kind of light-air acceleration that makes short harbour-to-harbour passages genuinely enjoyable rather than engine-assisted. A standard 1.95-metre cast keel provides respectable pointing angles without restricting marina options, while a deeper competition draft is available for owners who prioritise windward performance above all else. Below decks, the 34 arranges three distinct sleeping zones around a bright, wide saloon: a forward V-berth, a settee conversion amidships, and an aft double accessed through its own companionway. The galley runs along the port side with enough counter space and locker volume for a week’s provisions. A 21 HP Yanmar on a saildrive keeps the stern clean and the handling neutral under power. Build quality follows the HanseGroup standard: vacuum-infused GRP skins over a bonded grid structure, with Spinlock hardware and Selden spars fitted from the factory. On the water, the 34 rewards helms who push it: she tracks well in a seaway, responds crisply to trim changes, and can hold her own in mixed-fleet racing without asking the crew to sacrifice a comfortable night’s sleep afterwards.
