Excess / Excess 13
Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group drew the Excess 13 around a simple proposition: 42 feet of catamaran that sails with genuine purpose and lives with real generosity. At 12.99 metres overall with 7.25 metres of beam, the 10,650-kilogram displacement keeps the hull sections fine enough to drive hard upwind, while 113 square metres of sail area gives the rig authority in less than 15 knots.
Four cabins sleep eight across a layout that puts the owner suite in the port hull and three guest cabins to starboard, each with standing headroom and natural ventilation. Piaton Yacht Design handled the interior, mixing functional surfaces with a warm material palette that sidesteps the clinical whites of larger production cats. Two heads serve the accommodation, and the galley draws natural light from both hull windows and the panoramic saloon glazing.
Twin 40-horsepower saildrives deliver predictable close-quarters handling, backed by 400 litres of fuel split between the hulls. CE Category A certification to 8 persons qualifies the 13 for offshore routing, and the Pulse Line rig option lifts upwind area to 122 square metres for owners who rate pointing angle above easy trimming.
Named European Yacht of the Year 2026 in the Family Cruiser category, the Excess 13 sits in a decisive segment: large enough for extended blue water cruising, compact enough to handle Mediterranean marinas without stress. New pricing starts from approximately EUR 530,000 ex-VAT.
