Frauscher and Porsche have put their names on the same hull, and the 790 Spectre is the sportsboat that resulted. It takes the 7.92 metre platform of the petrol-powered 797 Spectre and replaces the V8 and its sterndrive with a Porsche electric powertrain: a 100 kWh high-voltage battery, a central Porsche control unit, power electronics and a marine Z-drive.
The numbers are unusual for an electric boat. Continuous output is 170 kW with 400 kW available in peaks, enough for a top speed of 95 km/h. Cruise sits at 22 knots, where the battery is good for about 45 kilometres, and dropping to displacement speed pushes range beyond 100 kilometres. Charging is what makes that workable: above 250 kW, taking the pack from 10 to 80 percent in under half an hour, which is a lunch stop rather than an overnight plan.
Four drive modes run from Docking to Sport Plus, lifted straight from Porsche practice. The cockpit keeps Frauscher habits: a 12-inch display, ambient lighting, a bow thruster, an electric anchor, a fridge drawer and a high-end audio system, with bimini tops for shade.
Paint is where owners will linger. Porsche colours are offered, paint-to-sample among them, so no two boats need leave the yard looking alike. Six people are permitted under CE category C, on a hull that weighs 2,600 kg with the battery aboard.
