GX42 RPH Yachts for Sale

The GX42 is the first yacht from GX Superyachts, and she arrives as a 42 metre statement about where long range cruising is heading. Built in aluminium at SES Yachts in Istanbul, she pairs twin MAN diesels with two 200 kW electric motors, a large lithium battery bank and up to 27 kW of solar on the hardtop. The payoff is practical rather than theoretical: around 100 nautical miles under electric power alone, close to 48 hours of silent operation at anchor with air conditioning running, and a claimed 60 percent cut in carbon against a comparable diesel yacht.

Marco Casali of Too Design drew both the raised pilothouse profile and the interior, which favours walnut, white leather and Italian fabrics over showy excess. Accommodation is set up for a family: ten guests across five cabins, with the owner given a private area and a dedicated head. Francesco Rogantin of NAMES studio shaped a hull that holds 12 knots as a comfortable cruise and reaches 16 at the top end, with range measured in five figures.

She sits at the head of a planned range running from 24 to 56 metres, in RPH and Coupe forms. For a buyer who wants genuine quiet, real efficiency and semi custom freedom from a yard with deep hybrid experience, the GX42 makes a serious case.

GX42 RPH Yacht Review

The GX42 is the yacht that turns GX Superyachts from a promise into a product. Launched in 2026 as the hull named Merinos, she is the first of a planned 24 to 56 metre range and carries the credibility of the Greenline Yachts team behind her, a group with 16 years of hybrid propulsion and more than a thousand boats delivered. That matters, because hybrid superyachts have often been more marketing than measurable. The GX42 is built to be measured: close to 48 hours of air conditioned time at anchor with no generator running, roughly 100 nautical miles on electric power, and a claimed 60 percent reduction in carbon against a comparable diesel yacht. Marco Casali of Too Design handled the look inside and out, Francesco Rogantin of NAMES studio drew the hull, and SES Yachts in Istanbul built her in aluminium. For a buyer, the proposition is unusually clear. This is a semi custom 42 metre with real range, genuine silence and a family first interior, from a new name whose engineering pedigree is anything but new. She debuts at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2026.
Performance

Two MAN D2862 diesels and two 200 kW electric motors form the heart of the GX42, fed by a large lithium battery bank and up to 27 kilowatts of solar on the hardtop. The system is genuinely flexible. In electric mode she makes around six knots and covers close to 100 nautical miles in silence; under diesel she cruises comfortably at 12 knots and tops out near 16. Range runs into five figures, enough to cross oceans without drama. The real headline is life at anchor, where the batteries and solar carry the hotel load, air conditioning included, for up to 48 hours with no noise, vibration or emissions. A boost mode is on hand when an owner wants extra speed. At 260 tonnes and 42 metres, she is engineered for efficiency rather than outright pace, and the numbers reflect that priority.

Exterior Design

Casali gave the GX42 a low raised pilothouse profile capped by a long curved hardtop, and that hardtop earns its keep by hiding the solar array in plain sight. The lines are clean and horizontal, with a dark glazed band running the length of the superstructure to keep the volume looking light. She is offered in two forms, the RPH seen here and a Coupe, so buyers can choose between extra wheelhouse volume and a sleeker silhouette. Aluminium construction keeps weight down and allows the generous glazing. Deck space is arranged for family use rather than show, with room for tenders and water toys and easy movement between the bathing platform, the main deck and the upper lounge. The result reads as modern and restrained, a yacht that looks quick standing still without resorting to aggression.

Interior & Accommodation

Below, the GX42 sleeps ten guests in five cabins, with the owner given a private area and a dedicated head. Casali’s palette leans on walnut, white leather, lacquered surfaces and Italian fabrics, a combination that feels warm rather than clinical. Natural light was clearly a priority: the hull windows and superstructure glazing pull the sea inside, and the owner’s bathroom pairs marble with a framed sea view. The brief was explicitly family minded, so the layout favours comfort and flow over formal grandeur. Materials are chosen to wear well at sea, and the detailing is careful without tipping into excess. Crew accommodation handles up to seven, enough to run the yacht properly on longer passages while keeping guest and service areas separate.

Living Spaces

The GX42 is built around the idea that the best part of a yacht is time spent still. Because she can hold her systems silently at anchor for two days, the social spaces are designed to be lived in rather than motored between. The main deck salon opens to the sea, the hardtop shelters an upper lounge, and the bathing platform brings guests close to the water. Flow between these zones is deliberate, so a family can spread out or gather without the engineering intruding. The absence of generator noise changes the feel of every evening on board, and the hybrid system means an owner can anchor in a quiet bay without running a diesel just to keep the lights and air conditioning on. It is a quieter, cleaner version of the usual superyacht day.

Ownership & Specification

She is built in aluminium at SES Yachts in Istanbul, a yard with real metal expertise, to a semi custom brief that lets owners shape the interior and systems. The 42 metre RPH carries 353 gross tonnes of volume; the Coupe variant trades a little of that for profile. Pricing for the first yacht was reported at 32 million euros, which positions her against established 40 metre builders while offering a propulsion package few of them can match. Buyers get the backing of the Greenline team’s hybrid experience, a classification build and the running economy that comes from spending less time on the generators. For an owner who values genuine quiet, lower emissions and long range over badge value, the GX42 is a credible and unusually honest entry into the 40 metre class. Delivery of further hulls follows the Monaco debut.
