Speed is only half her story.
Four MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, each developing 2,600 horsepower, push the GranSport 54 to a cruising speed of 20 knots and a top speed of 29 knots, figures that put her among the fastest yachts of her size under power. Her aluminium hull carries a wave piercing bow, a form that cuts through a head sea rather than slamming over it, trimming fuel burn at speed and easing the ride for guests below. Drop the throttles back to 12 knots and the range opens out to 4,200 nautical miles, enough for an Atlantic crossing without a fuel stop. Twin generators and stabiliser fins keep her steady and self sufficient at anchor.
She trades the open sundeck for a room with a view.
Where earlier GranSport yachts left the top deck open to the sky, this 54 metre closes it into a full sky lounge with wraparound glazing and a dining table for formal evenings at sea, protection that matters on long range passages and in cooler climates. Forward, the bow carries a pool deeper and more generous than on previous models, shaded by retractable awnings. Aft, the beach club opens on three sides around a central bar, with a swim platform large enough to handle two tenders at once. Alberto Mancini drew the profile, keeping the aluminium superstructure light and the stability high even with a heavier deck plan than the series had carried before.
Five cabins, twelve guests, and an owner’s suite that opens straight onto the sea.
The main deck owner’s suite runs with a side balcony that opens at the touch of a button, alongside a freestanding tub and a walk-in closet built for a season aboard rather than a weekend. Four further cabins sit on the lower deck, including a VIP with a central island bed, each given its own material palette rather than a repeated scheme. Overmarine’s interior team favours gold accents, black lacquer and fluted cannettato panelling over anything heavier, while a panda marble bar on the main deck, lit from within, anchors the principal entertaining space. Nine crew keep the operation running, a ratio that matters as much as the cabin count on a yacht built for real distance.
The sky lounge is where the GranSport 54 earns her reputation for comfort as much as speed.
Large windows and skylights fill the space with daylight, and a dining table seats the full owner’s party away from the wind and spray a lower deck cannot avoid when running hard. A second bar sits one level up on the open deck above, giving guests the choice between shelter and sun depending on the day. Forward, the pilothouse pairs a compact console finished in Alcantara with six screens for navigation and systems, a working space built for a long passage rather than a styling exercise. Between the enclosed lounge, the open deck above and the beach club below, she offers three distinct characters on three different decks.
Built in Viareggio by Mangusta, with a new price around 35 million euros, the GranSport 54 sits at the upper edge of what the yard builds.
She measures 54 metres on a 9 metre beam with a draught of 2.3 metres, shallow enough for berths many 50 metre yachts cannot reach. Displacement runs to 410 tonnes, carried on an aluminium hull and superstructure engineered throughout by the Overmarine Group. Fuel capacity of 71,000 litres and twin generators give her real independence at anchor as well as underway. She can host 20 for the day and sleep 12 across five cabins, with nine crew to run the yacht properly rather than merely staff it. For an owner who wants genuine speed without giving up the reach of a long range cruiser, she is a rare combination.
