Maori Limo Yacht Review

Not every yacht needs a cabin to feel complete. The Maori Limo is proof: an open, minimalist runabout built purely for moving between shore and anchorage in style, with nowhere to hide and nothing it needs to. Marco Ciampa, the designer behind every Maori hull, gives the Limo a cleaner, smoother line than the rest of the range, stripping the silhouette back until speed and openness are the only story. Twin 300 horsepower Volvo engines push her to 45 knots at the top end and a cruising 38 knots in between, figures that put her among the quickest tenders a superyacht could carry or a buyer could run on their own. Sixteen guests can be entertained by day across a saloon and open bow that flow into one another, with a single crew member on hand to run her. For an owner who wants genuine performance in a boat built to be driven rather than lived aboard, the Limo earns her place.
At Sea

Forty five knots from an eleven metre hull is not a small claim.

Twin 300 horsepower Volvo engines put the Limo among the fastest tenders Maori builds, reaching 45 knots at the top end and settling into a confident 38 knot cruise once she is up and running. A shallow 0.6 metre draught keeps her clear of the sandbanks and shoals that would catch out a deeper hulled boat, useful wherever a mothership anchors off a beach rather than alongside a quay. Four hundred litres of fuel carry her a genuine 100 nautical miles, plenty for a day spent shuttling between a yacht, a restaurant dock and the nearest stretch of open water. She is built to be driven hard and often, not nursed along at idle.

Exterior Design

Marco Ciampa shapes every Maori hull, and the Limo is where his line reads cleanest.

Across a three metre beam, stripped of the superstructure a cabin would demand, the deck runs low and uninterrupted from bow to stern, with nothing to break the eye beyond the helm and the sofas either side of it. It is a smoother, more resolved shape than the sportier Maori models that share her yard, built around the idea that a tender or day boat should look as fast standing still as it feels underway. The fibreglass hull keeps weight down without asking for a complicated build, and the result is a silhouette that reads as considered restraint rather than a boat with features missing.

On Board

Sixteen guests can be aboard at once, and the whole deck is built to keep them together rather than tucked into separate corners.

There is no interior to retreat into on the Limo, by design: every seat is in the open, and every guest is part of the same scene from the moment they step aboard. Owners can specify their own colour scheme and a short list of optional extras, a genuine way to make a boat built in volume still feel like their own. A single crew member runs her, keeping the experience informal and immediate rather than staffed like a larger yacht. It is a boat built around being outside and sociable, never around retreating indoors.

Layout

The deck reads as one continuous space, divided only by where you choose to sit.

A sofa spans the stern with the helm positioned just forward of it, putting the driver at the centre of the action rather than apart from it. At the bow, a U shaped sofa wraps the forward seating area, while sofas running along both sides of the open saloon link the two ends of the boat together. Two separate entrances through the low superstructure let guests move from stern to bow without squeezing past each other, a small detail that matters on a boat this busy with people. Nothing here asks to be walked around. It simply works.

Engineering

Underneath the clean lines sits straightforward, dependable engineering.

Twin 300 horsepower Volvo engines sit at the heart of the package, built by the Maori Engineering Team to the same standard applied across the rest of the range, and matched to a fibreglass hull that keeps weight down and makes the most of that power. A 0.6 metre draught is shallow even by tender standards, letting her nose into water that would ground almost anything else her owner might carry alongside a yacht. Light, simple and built to be driven hard, she turns and accelerates with an immediacy that heavier day boats cannot match.
