Master Craft NXT24 Yacht Review

Master Craft’s NXT line was built to put wake and surf performance within easy reach, and the NXT24 is the biggest statement that family has made yet. At 7.3 metres, she is the largest NXT in the range, sized to carry a full ballast load, sixteen guests and all the tow sport gear a group can bring, without losing the quick, responsive feel that NXT boats are known for. Power comes from a single Ilmor inboard, standard at 6.0 litres and available up to a larger 7.4 litre option for owners chasing bigger wakes and faster recovery between passes. A pickle fork bow sharpens her profile at the dock, and the standard GEN2 surf system saves a custom wake or wave profile for every rider on board, adjusting ballast automatically rather than leaving it to guesswork. For a group that has outgrown a smaller tow boat, the NXT24 is the natural step up: more room, more power in reserve, and the same ease of handling that has made Master Craft’s wake boats a fixture on lakes and rivers everywhere.
Performance

Thirty six knots at the top end, and a cruising pace of 25 knots, put the NXT24 among the quicker boats in Master Craft’s range.

The standard Ilmor 6.0 litre MPI inboard provides the base power, with a 6.2 litre GDI and a substantial 7.4 litre MPI available for owners who want more reserve behind the ballast system. A shallow 0.70 metre draught keeps her manoeuvrable in the coves and shallow water where tow sports happen, and the planing hull settles quickly onto its line, which matters when a rider is waiting on the rope. Fuel capacity runs to 246 litres, enough for a full day of repeated passes without a return to the dock.

At Sea

A pickle fork bow and sculpted hull keep the NXT24 settled even with her ballast tanks full.

The hull is shaped to carry a heavy ballast load without losing its manners, settling into a flat, predictable wake behind the transom rather than fighting the extra weight. An optional handling package adds precise control in wind or current, useful given how often a boat this size is asked to hold position close to a dock or a swimmer. Black anodised accents and a sculpted, upholstered captain’s chair carry the design language through to the helm, where a touchscreen display puts ballast and surf settings within reach of the driver without distraction underway.

On Board

Sixteen guests fit comfortably aboard the NXT24, more than most tow boats her size.

A wide bow lounge, with an optional cushion insert that turns it into playpen style seating, gives younger riders a safe perch away from the cockpit. Aft, U shaped seating wraps around a large crew, and every seat flips open on sturdy hinges to reveal storage below, useful for wakeboards, ropes and life jackets. A folding tower keeps the boat garage friendly when it is time to put her away, and can carry a Bimini fitted with surf sleeves for shade over the cockpit when the group simply wants to relax between runs.

Range & Autonomy

A 246 litre fuel tank gives the NXT24 real range for a boat built around short, repeated runs rather than long passages.

At a 25 knot cruise, she is rated to cover around 300 nautical miles between fills, more than enough for a full weekend of wakeboarding, surfing and general cruising without planning a fuel stop around it. That efficiency matters on a boat that spends much of its life running the same stretch of water again and again, ballast tanks full, engine working through the same rev range. The single inboard configuration keeps consumption predictable, and the shallow draught means she can reach fuel docks that a deeper hulled boat would have to avoid.

Engineering

Master Craft keeps the NXT24’s engineering in-house, from the hull to the ballast system that defines how she rides.

The standard GEN2 surf system lets every rider save a personal wake or wave profile, adjusting the boat’s ballast and trim automatically rather than asking the driver to manage it manually. Ilmor Marine, Master Craft’s long standing engine partner, supplies the inboard range, giving the yard a single source for power across the NXT line. The result is a boat whose systems are tuned specifically for tow sports rather than adapted from a general purpose hull, which shows in how quickly she settles into a clean wake once the ballast is loaded.
