Forty knots on top, and a wake she can tailor in seconds.
The X24 cruises at 25 knots and reaches 40 at full throttle, driven by a 6.2 litre Ilmor GDI V8 as standard, with 6.0 litre and 7.4 litre Ilmor options available for owners who want to dial the character up or down. Power runs through a V drive to a four blade propeller at a 2.00 to 1 gear ratio. Behind that pace sits MasterCraft’s SurfStar system: 4,300 pounds of ballast and three transom mounted tabs shape the wave or wake on demand, with Rapid Surf presets that can be adjusted on the fly and saved, so a morning surf session and an afternoon of wakeboarding each get their own setting.
She wears her tower like punctuation, not decoration.
A Z6 tower comes standard, while the test boat’s optional Z8 raises and lowers with one hand via MasterCraft’s patented Hydro-Lock mechanism, useful under low bridges or in a garage. A broad Bimini weaves board storage directly into its canvas, and an optional drop down swim step lowers the distance between deck and water at the transom. Nothing about her profile is there purely to be looked at. The silhouette is built around the business of towing, surfing and wakeboarding, and every line on deck, from tower to swim step, answers to that job first.
Eighteen guests, and a layout built so none of them are in the way.
MasterCraft redrew the helm seat for this generation and added patented aft lounge seats beneath the rub rail with flip up headrests, alongside scallop shaped wraparound seating finished in the yard’s signature stitching and a rear bench that converts for sunbathing or extra seating. At the helm, a 15 inch panoramic display pairs with a 12 inch companion touchscreen and a MyDrive rotary dial that handles menus and surf settings in one motion, plus a dedicated volume dial and, as an option, a stern thruster worked from a knob built into the throttle.
Dry weight and ballast are two very different numbers on this boat, and that is the point.
The X24 weighs 6,100 pounds dry, before the 4,300 pounds of ballast that gives her SurfStar system its wave. Fuel capacity runs to 85 gallons, matching a 250 nautical mile range, enough for a full day of towing without a return to the dock. She is built at MasterCraft’s Vonore, Tennessee plant, where the yard has spent decades refining the V drive, ballast and surf hardware that define this category rather than treating them as options bolted onto a generic hull.
Eighteen seats, a 40 knot top end and a wake system built to switch jobs between sunrise and sunset.
The X24 sits at the top of MasterCraft’s day boat range, built in Vonore, Tennessee, to a specification that favours genuine wake and surf engineering over decoration. A four blade bronze propeller, 2.00 to 1 gearing and the choice of three Ilmor V8s give an owner real control over how she performs, while 85 gallons of fuel keep a full day of towing within reach without refuelling. For an owner choosing between a dedicated wake boat and a do everything day boat, the X24 is built to be the second answer that still performs like the first.
