MTI / MTI 48 Race
The MTI 48 Race is the compact sibling of the 52 in Marine Technology Inc.’s Racing Series, a 48-foot catamaran that shares the same engine options, construction methods, and competitive pedigree in a shorter, lighter hull. At approximately 11,000 pounds dry, the 48 shaves around 1,500 pounds from the 52, a difference that shows up in acceleration and top-end speed per horsepower invested.nnThe engine list mirrors the 52 Race exactly: 860-horsepower QC4 Mercury through 1,750-horsepower configurations, with BPM surface drives and dry-sump options for dedicated racing builds. Sterndrive propulsion drives through Mercury number 6 or number 8 units depending on configuration and class rules. Performance in race trim exceeds 170 mph in the higher engine packages.nnBeam matches the 52 at 11 feet 6 inches, maintaining the tunnel geometry and stability characteristics that MTI has refined across decades of offshore competition. Seating for two to four occupants with race-grade harnesses, and a 150-gallon fuel tank sized for race legs rather than range.nnVacuum-infused composite construction with carbon-fibre reinforcement follows the same specification as every MTI hull. Each 48 Race is built to order at the Wentzville facility with individual rigging, paint, and safety equipment. The 48 competes in classes where the shorter hull length provides a regulatory or practical advantage over the 52.
