Otam / Otam 90 GTS
The Otam 90 GTS is the flagship of the Italian yard’s fast range and one of the most focused high-performance cruisers afloat. Launched in 2024, the first hull, m/y Sexy Me, recorded a top speed of 45 knots on sea trials, comfortably beyond its contracted 42, and in doing so confirmed Otam’s reputation for building boats that are as fast in the real world as they are on paper. At 27.75 metres it is a genuine superyacht in length, yet it is engineered and driven like a sports boat.
Otam has spent decades refining the planing hull and surface-drive formula, and the 90 GTS represents the current peak of that work. Power comes from two MTU 16V2000M96L engines producing 2,600 horsepower each, coupled to a pair of Arneson ASD 15 A1S surface drives. The surface-piercing propellers run largely clear of the water, cutting drag and appendage resistance, so the 90 GTS reaches its 44-knot-plus top end and holds a fast cruise of 37 to 38 knots with a refinement that belies the performance. The hull is laid up in advanced composites, offered in Aramat and GRP or in a full Kevlar specification for owners who want the lightest, stiffest structure possible.
Design responsibility is shared between Giuseppe Bagnardi of the BG Design Firm, who shaped the exterior, and naval architect Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design, who is responsible for the hull and engineering. The result is a long, low, muscular profile with a hardtop and a semi-enclosed saloon, a silhouette that reads unmistakably as an Otam while feeling thoroughly modern. The beam of 6.00 metres is used to create wide, uncluttered deck spaces, and the connection between the main deck saloon and the cockpit gives the boat a social, open character once it is off the plane and at anchor.
Despite its sporting intent the 90 GTS is a proper cruising yacht below decks. The interior can be configured with three, four or five cabins to suit each owner, from a layout that maximises guest accommodation to one that adds crew quarters for longer passages, with a crew cabin for two typically specified. Fuel capacity of 8,000 litres and water capacity of 1,200 litres give the boat the endurance to make the most of its speed over real distances, whether that means outrunning weather or simply reaching the next destination before lunch.
The 90 GTS carries CE Class A certification, confirming its design for open-ocean work, and every example is effectively a semi-custom commission, built around the owner’s choice of layout, finish and hull material. New prices start from around nine million euros before VAT, placing it among the select group of large, bespoke high-performance yachts where Otam has always competed against far larger industrial builders on its own terms.
For the owner who finds conventional displacement superyachts too slow and most fast production boats too small and too compromised, the Otam 90 GTS occupies rare ground. It offers 45-knot performance, superyacht length, genuine cruising accommodation and the exclusivity of a near-custom Italian build, all in a boat that is unmistakably engineered by people who care more about how it goes than about how many it can seat. It is, in the truest sense, a fast and iconic yacht.
