Ninety horsepower is all she needs to reach 37 knots.
A single BRP Rotax ACE 903 engine, running to 8,000rpm, drives the J29 through a jet unit rather than a conventional propeller. Cruising sits at 20 knots, with 37 available when the moment calls for it, and the V-hull’s 19.5 degree deadrise keeps the ride settled rather than sharp. Jet propulsion removes the exposed prop entirely, an obvious safety advantage around swimmers and shallow water, and lets her draw only a few tens of centimetres. An 11 gallon tank is enough for a full day of shuttle runs between yacht and shore, and three guests travel in comfort rather than being squeezed aboard.
She is styled to belong to whichever yacht she serves.
Tecnorib builds the hull in GRP and keeps the palette restrained: white hull and deck, tubes in a pale Arctic grey, cushions finished in a soft platinum tone. Four separate air compartments sit inside the tubing, a safety measure as much as a construction detail. Pirelli’s in-house design team drew the lines with one brief in mind, low profile, easy to stow, easy to read from the water. An Azimut special edition takes the same engineering and dresses it in Azimut Yachts’ own styling, a small but telling sign of how closely this tender is bred into the wider superyacht world.
Room for three, and nothing wasted.
There is no cabin here, and none is needed. The J29 is an open boat, built for short runs rather than overnight stays, and every centimetre of her 1.7 metre beam is given to the driver and the guests she carries. Boarding is designed around ergonomics rather than looks alone, with a layout that keeps hands free and footing secure on a moving tender. Her transport height was drawn specifically to clear the deck head of a yacht’s garage, so she stows without stealing space earmarked for a jet ski or a second tender. Simplicity is the point. She does one job, and does it without friction.
Jet drive is the quiet decision that shapes everything else about her.
Where a conventional tender relies on an outboard and an exposed propeller, the J29 draws water through an internal jet unit, giving her a draught of just 0.4 metres and removing the single biggest hazard around swimmers and tenders together. The trade off, slightly less low speed torque, is a fair one for a boat that spends most of her life ferrying guests over short, shallow stretches of water. Tecnorib’s engineering department, working under the Pirelli name, keeps the mechanical layout compact enough to fit the same footprint as the hull above it, so nothing about the propulsion choice adds to her stowed dimensions.
A tender built to be forgotten about, in the best way.
At 2.9 metres length overall, with a 1.7 metre beam and a 0.4 metre draught, the J29 is the entry point into Pirelli’s J-Line of yacht tenders. A single Rotax ACE 903 engine, 90hp on gasoline, drives her to a 20 knot cruise and 37 knots flat out, carrying up to three guests in a GRP hull built by Tecnorib. She is designed from the outset for garage life aboard a larger yacht, and for an owner assembling a tender fleet, or replacing a tired one, she covers the essentials without asking for more space than she needs. Simple, capable and easy to specify alongside the yacht she serves.
