Princess has spent five decades building flybridge and sports yachts in Plymouth. The C48 Open is the yard’s first centre console, and the first Princess to hang outboards off the transom.
Underneath sits Michael Peters’ patented SVVT hull, which channels air beneath the running surface to cut drag and generate lift. With three Mercury V12-600 Verado outboards the C48 Open runs to 53 knots, making it the fastest boat Princess has built. Buyers who prefer a clean transom can take twin Volvo Penta D6-480 inboards instead, trading roughly twenty knots for a quieter installation and a shallower draft.
The deck is the point of the boat. One open level runs from the bathing platform forward, sheltered by a hardtop, with an aft sunpad, forward-facing seating around a table and drop-down folding seats along both sides. The exterior galley splits into forward and aft wet bars carrying an electric grill, a drawer fridge and a sink. Triple seating at the helm keeps everyone together on passage.
Below, the standard arrangement gives a lower saloon with a convertible dinette, a lobby, a day head and an aft cabin, sleeping four. Owners wanting a second private space can specify a forward cabin in place of the saloon, or add a lower galley.
For a buyer who wants Princess engineering in a day boat that still handles a night aboard, this is new ground for the yard.
