Regal LS36 Yacht Review

Step through the windshield and the deck does not change level once. That single detail tells you everything about how the Regal LS36 is built. At eleven point six metres she blends Regal’s day boat series with its yacht series, and it shows everywhere from the joystick docking to the full beam swim platform. A dive door lets her come alongside a quay like a far larger vessel, while twin Volvo Penta V8 engines carry her to a 37 knot top end and a settled 25 knot cruise, with 757 litres of fuel giving a 300 nautical mile range. Two cabins below sleep four, a proper head serves the companion area, and the cockpit, galley and bow sit on one uninterrupted floor. She is pitched at an owner who wants a single boat for a full day on the water and an occasional night aboard, without stepping up to the size, crew and cost of a larger motor yacht.
At Sea

Joystick docking turns a thirty eight foot day boat into something one person can handle alone.

Twin Volvo Penta V8 engines, matched to duo prop drives and electric steering, fire instantly and answer the throttle with the kind of smooth, abundant power that makes close quarters work easy rather than tense. At cruise she settles at 25 knots, with a 37 knot top end in reserve for when the conditions and the destination call for it. The engines are joystick compatible, so coming alongside or holding position off a beach takes a fraction of the concentration a conventional twin shaft boat demands. It is the kind of handling that lets a couple run the LS36 comfortably without a crew, which is rather the point of a day boat built to this standard.

Design & Lines

Regal built the LS36 to merge two different boats into one hull.

Half of her lineage comes from the yard’s day boat series, half from its yacht series, and the result reads as both at once. The deck runs at a single level from the swim platform to the bow, with a walkway straight through the windscreen rather than around it, a detail that quietly removes the awkward step up and down most bowriders still carry. A full beam swim platform, 1.42 metres deep, dissolves the line between boat and water, while a starboard dive door lets her take on guests or provisions from a quay or pontoon directly. Regal’s own description of the LS36 as yacht certified is not idle marketing. The build quality and the layout genuinely earn the comparison.

Layout

Roughly twenty one seating positions, and not one of them feels like an afterthought.

Aft, a centre section converts from cockpit seating to a sun lounge, with aft facing jump seats positioned to watch swimmers off the platform. A wet bar sits to port with a grill, a sink and room for a drinks cooler on a roll out rack, built for entertaining rather than simply snacking between swims. Forward, through the windscreen walkway, bow seating for five or six adults includes fold down armrests and a filler section that converts to a further sun lounge. Storage runs the length of the boat in under floor lockers, with a dedicated fish locker and a transom locker long enough for paddleboards or skis. Little about the layout asks guests to compromise on comfort for the sake of speed.

Interior & Accommodation

Two cabins below sleep four, modest by yacht standards but genuinely usable.

An air conditioned berth sits beneath the helm console, built to double as a children’s shelter during the day or a proper cabin for the night, and a second cabin completes the sleeping arrangement for four guests in total. A separate head in the companion side console is finished with washable cabinetry, a vented sink area and an electric system, the kind of detail that makes an overnight stay practical rather than merely possible. It is not a replacement for a flybridge yacht’s accommodation, and nobody at Regal would claim otherwise. It is enough for a couple or a family to stay aboard comfortably after a long day, which is precisely the role this boat is built to fill.

Range & Autonomy

Three hundred nautical miles at cruise is serious range for a day boat.

A 757 litre fuel tank supports the twin V8 engines through a 25 knot cruise, with enough held in reserve to make longer passages between islands or coastal towns realistic rather than theoretical. A 1 metre draught keeps shallow anchorages and skinny channels within reach, somewhere a deeper hulled motor yacht of similar length could not follow. Combined with the joystick handling and the one level deck, the range is what turns the LS36 from a boat built for an afternoon into one capable of a genuine long weekend away, covering real distance between stops rather than staying tied to a single marina.
