The SDX 250 comes standard with a 6.2 litre MerCruiser MPI ECT sterndrive producing 300 horsepower, enough for a settled 25 knot cruise and 35 knots at the top end. Owners who prioritise efficiency can specify the 4.5 litre, 250 horsepower sterndrive instead, while a Mercury Verado 250 outboard offers a third route, trading sterndrive torque for outboard simplicity and trim range. Whichever is chosen, 246 litres of fuel gives a real world range of around 150 nautical miles, enough for a full day on the water and the run home without recalculating the tank along the way.
