Sunseeker Portofino 40 For Sale

The Portofino 40 sat at the compact end of the Sunseeker range and was drawn for owners who wanted a fast day boat they could still sleep aboard. At 12.90 metres on a 3.87 metre beam, the cockpit takes the larger share of the boat: a sunpad aft, wraparound seating and a table that works as well at anchor as under way. The saloon below is finished to the standard the yard applies to hulls twice the length, which is what separated the Portofino from volume-built sportscruisers of similar size.

Overnight accommodation is for four. A bathing platform closes off the transom, and a shallow 1.06 metre draft opens up anchorages and river berths that a flybridge yacht of the same length cannot reach.

Speed was central to the brief. Sunseeker quotes 34 knots and 225 nautical miles at 10 knots from 750 litres, and records shaft drives rather than sterndrives, which is unusual at 40 feet and tends to reward a long ownership.

The model is no longer in production, so buying one means the brokerage market. That makes it one of the more approachable routes into Sunseeker ownership for a buyer who values hull manners and build quality over the newest interior. Hulls come up regularly across the Mediterranean and on the English south coast.

The numbers tell the rest: 10,500 kilograms at half load, 750 litres of fuel and 295 litres of fresh water, coastal figures sized for long days out rather than passage making.
