Fifty knots is not a number she merely approaches. Independent testing confirmed it.
Triple 600hp Mercury Verado V12 outboards, her only engine option, use a two speed transmission that Tiara credits for real gains over a quad outboard setup of similar total horsepower, without the added weight. Cruising at 38 knots, she draws on 2,500 litres of fuel for a 300 nautical mile range, and sea trials of the standard package landed within a fraction of a knot of her own published top speed and almost exactly on her quoted fuel capacity. Mercury electronic controls add a joystick and a heading adjust function for fine course corrections underway, while a built in steerable gearcase removes the hydraulic steering actuators usually found at the engines, freeing the splashwell for more usable space.
An oversized hardtop, and a hull built around one engine package rather than several.
Tiara’s design team shaped the 48 LS specifically for her triple outboard propulsion, rather than adapting a hull drawn for something else, and the settled, planted feel at speed is the result. An enclosable helm with electric sliding glass doors and a roll down partition behind the seats cuts cabin noise sharply when closed, while the hardtop extends on supports tied directly to the gunwales for genuine shade rather than a bolt on canopy. A portside terrace drops down to form a swim platform finished in synthetic teak, with a telescoping ladder, and a starboard dive door gives swimmers a second way in and out of the water.
A forward master with seven feet of headroom is not something owners expect to find under an outboard console.
The master berth lifts for storage beneath it and sits forward with a separate shower stall, while two aft berths use filler cushions to form one large bed when needed, sleeping four in total across two cabins. Below, the cabin is finished in teak and driftwood tones, with solid teak steps and sole underfoot and a stand up head. It is a genuinely liveable layout rather than a token cabin fitted beneath a day boat, built for an owner who wants to stay aboard overnight without compromise, with a crew cabin for anyone who would rather not run the boat themselves.
The cockpit rotates to suit the moment, and the galley never gets in the way of it.
A U shaped outdoor galley sits aft of the helm with a grill, refrigerated drawers and an ice maker, keeping whoever is cooking part of the conversation rather than shut below. A rotating lounge locks forward or aft to either open up aft deck space or bring seating closer to the dining table, and bow seating for three includes electric leg rests that turn the forward cockpit into a sunpad in moments. Three Garmin multifunction displays at the helm, a bow thruster and a drop down television round out a layout built as much for entertaining at anchor as for the running between harbours.
Eleven thousand, three hundred and fifty kilograms of displacement, carried without ever feeling heavy in the turns.
A standard Cummins Onan 9kW diesel generator keeps systems running at anchor, and an optional Seakeeper gyrostabiliser settles her further for owners who spend time on the hook rather than underway. Her hull form was engineered around the triple Verado package rather than adapted to fit it after the fact, and the two speed transmission built into the drive legs is the clearest expression of that approach, trading a measure of outright acceleration for real gains in cruising efficiency at speed. The result is a yacht that carries her weight, her fuel and her four guests without asking any one system to work harder than it needs to.
