X-Yachts / X-Yachts X56
The X-Yachts X56 is the flagship of the Pure X range, a 54-foot performance cruiser that embodies Danish precision engineering. Her hull length of 16.58 metres, 4.89-metre beam, and variable draft options from 2.5 to 3.3 metres make her equally capable on coastal cruises and offshore passages. At 18,800 kg displacement with 7,200 kg ballast, she delivers the responsive handling that defines the X-Yachts DNA.

Numbers rarely lie, and the X56’s numbers are serious.
On her sea trial, in light airs of 3.5 to 7 knots true, she sailed under Code 0 at around 80 per cent of true wind speed, tracking from 2.8 to 6.2 knots as the breeze built. Push the wind to 15 to 17 knots in a lumpy sea and she holds 7 to 7.5 knots close hauled under full sail, dry and unbothered by slamming. Bear away five degrees and she gathers to 8 knots. Reaching under Code 0 in the same breeze, she touches 9 to 10 knots. A sail area to displacement ratio of 24.7 explains the willingness to accelerate, and her ballast keeps her upright enough to carry that sail plan deep into the wind range before a reef is needed.
She is heavier on the helm than she feels underfoot.
Twin wheels connect to parallel hydraulic rams, which removes some of the direct feel sailors expect from a performance hull, yet the X56 still answers promptly and shows only a modest weather helm upwind. In light air she tacked cleanly under mainsail alone, no engine needed. X-Yachts builds her for short handed, long distance passages, including transatlantic crossings, and expects the autopilot to steer for nearly the whole voyage while the crew manages trim and lookout. A self tacking jib comes as standard, with an optional inner forestay and furling staysail that lets a short handed crew reduce sail safely as conditions build, well before things get uncomfortable.
Life on deck is built around people, not only sail trim.
A central cockpit table with two folding leaves seats guests comfortably and leaves room for a drinks fridge within reach. Twin helm stations sit forward of the stern rail, clear of the social area, with space for large chartplotters and the controls for thrusters, windlass and the Code 0 furler. Wide sidedecks and deep bulwarks make moving forward secure underway, and an aft bench doubles as liferaft stowage. Below the waterline at the stern, a teak lined garage swallows a 3.0 metre RIB, launched and recovered by its own crane, so the beach and the anchorage stay within easy reach wherever she stops.
Three cabins, one clear hierarchy.
The owner’s suite sits forward, lit by two hull windows, a pair of overhead hatches and glazing in the coachroof above, with an en suite shower room of its own. Aft, two further cabins each convert their twin berths to a double, taking total sleeping capacity to six. A single heads with a separate shower is standard aft, with a third heads available where the layout allows. The galley runs in a U shape as standard, finished in Nordic oak with teak offered as an alternative, and carries serious refrigeration: a double sized fridge, a dedicated drinks fridge and, on better specified boats, a small dishwasher, for owners who cook properly rather than just reheat.
Her hull is baked, not simply laid up.
X-Yachts has built in epoxy infusion since 2018, curing each hull at 70 degrees Celsius for 24 hours to produce a laminate that is lighter, stiffer and stronger than a standard polyester layup, at a cost the yard considers worth paying. A keel stepped, triple spreader mast with oversized discontinuous rod rigging is standard, with carbon spars offered for owners chasing lighter weight aloft. X-Yachts also keeps owners on a tight list of proven, well supported equipment, which keeps spares available in most cruising grounds, and where a problem resists local expertise, the yard can send its own engineers to the boat, wherever she is.
