Pylos is one of the most historically significant anchorages in Greece, its Navarino Bay framed by an Ottoman fortress and the long narrow island of Sfaktiria on its western side. Itineraries often combine the Peloponnese coast with a Cyclades loop exiting south via the Mani Peninsula and entering the island chain at Kythira before moving north through Milos, Folegandros and Santorini.
