The seven Aeolian Islands rise from the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily, combining volcanic drama with crystalline water and a pace of life that resists the crowds of more fashionable destinations. At this level, charter yachts are flagship superyachts of 60 metres and above, bringing the full resources of a private hotel to one of Italy’s most distinctive cruising grounds.
The Aeolians sit roughly 25 nautical miles from Milazzo on Sicily’s northeast coast. Each island offers something different: Lipari for provisioning and culture, Vulcano for volcanic swimming, Panarea for fashionable evening anchorages, Salina for vineyards and capers, and Stromboli for the unforgettable sight of an active crater viewed from the water.
At 200,000 euros per week, a crew of ten to twelve professionals manages the vessel while guests explore the archipelago entirely on their terms. The advance provisioning allowance of around 60,000 euros covers all fuelling, provisions and exclusive berthing arrangements. Unspent funds are returned at the voyage end.
The Tyrrhenian’s relatively light and consistent winds suit flagship superyachts well. Availability at this level is limited to a small number of vessels globally, and July-August dates are typically committed well in advance.
