SMOOTH OPERATOR is a 39 metre Jongert, delivered in 2010 and given a full refit in 2023, and she is a departure from what the Dutch yard is best known for. Jongert made its name building serious ocean going sailing yachts, and it brought that same engineering rigour to this aluminium motor yacht, drawn by Guido de Groot with a low, athletic profile that looks fast standing still. The 2023 refit reworked her in a modern grey and oak palette throughout, so she presents as a current, well kept yacht rather than one showing her years.
She carries a genuinely full house of accommodation for her size. Twelve guests sleep in five cabins, with the owner taking a wide master in grey and oak, a large bed below soft lighting with a seating area, good natural light and a private bathroom. The layout runs on through a VIP double and further doubles and twins below, each with an ensuite, a flexible arrangement that makes up for couples, children or a mix of the two. A crew of six runs her from service areas kept clear of the accommodation, so the guest spaces stay calm and private through the week.
The interior is contemporary and easy to live in. The main salon runs in modern grey and oak, soft seating around a low table with large windows down both sides and full doors aft that open the room to the shaded deck, so the salon joins the sea at anchor. A dining table seats the whole group within the main deck under a soft lit ceiling, and a quieter sky lounge gives the group a second inside room away from the main salon. It is a calm, modern space that suits the relaxed, active way she is meant to be chartered.
Outside, SMOOTH OPERATOR makes the most of a 39 metre hull. The sun deck opens out wide with loungers, seating and shade, high above the sea with a long view over the coast, the social heart of a warm afternoon. The main aft deck carries soft seating and a dining table close to the swim platform, shaded and open to the sea astern, and the foredeck adds a quieter spot forward for anyone who wants to be away from the group. It is a lot of usable outdoor space, arranged so twelve guests are never far apart.
A tender and a spread of watersports gear come with the yacht, launched off the stern for guests who would rather be in the sea than beside it, from towable toys to paddleboards and snorkelling gear. Her aluminium hull and her engineering pedigree make her a capable, comfortable platform for a week of island hopping, steady at anchor and easy under way, and the 2023 refit means every system and finish aboard has been brought up to date.
Her home water is Croatia and the Dalmatian coast, and she is well matched to it. The islands run in a long chain from Split and Hvar down to Dubrovnik, the anchorages are clear and close together, and the towns come alive in the evening. With her modern interior, her wide sun deck and her five flexible cabins, SMOOTH OPERATOR suits a family or a group of friends who want an active week on one of the finest coasts in the Mediterranean.
