SLIPSTREAM is a 60-metre motor yacht built by the French shipyard CMN in Cherbourg, delivered in 2009 as one of just nine superyachts ever produced by a yard better known for commercial vessels, and remains a multi-award-winning standout on the charter market. Her striking black hull and metallic silver superstructure, designed by Andrew Winch alongside her interiors, give SLIPSTREAM one of the most instantly recognisable silhouettes afloat, and the impression continues the moment guests step aboard.
Inside, rich notes of red, black and ochre work in harmony with original Pacific Northwest and Aboriginal artwork, a nod to her owner’s heritage, to create genuinely spectacular living and entertainment spaces. A hand-carved trio of totem poles stands guard over the glistening black fossil marble stairwell connecting her decks, immediately signalling that this is a yacht with real personality rather than generic superyacht polish. The main saloon centres on a large seating area arranged around a glass table, accented with bold artwork against plain white wool carpets, while the dining area can be closed off with a sideboard, roll-down blind and louvered doors to create a private conference space when needed.
Accommodation comfortably sleeps 12 guests across seven cabins spread over three decks. The rich red and black master suite is a genuine showpiece, with its own office, his-and-hers bathrooms, a walk-in wardrobe and a striking raised observation lounge with direct access to the foredeck. The VIP cabin on the bridge deck enjoys some of the best views on board, with natural light spilling in through a sliding glass door that opens onto a private balcony. Four further double cabins sit on the lower deck, two of which convert to twins on request, and the gym can additionally convert into a seventh cabin with two Pullman berths and its own en suite shower room when extra sleeping space is needed.
The sky lounge is one of SLIPSTREAM’s most memorable spaces: at the touch of a button, blackout blinds fall and a cinema screen unfurls from its hiding place inside an elegant chaise longue, transforming the room into a full theatre experience. An air-conditioned gym with both machines and free weights sits nearby on the bridge deck, alongside a circular al fresco dining area shielded by sliding glass doors that let guests take in the views from every angle while staying sheltered from the wind.
Her vast sun deck was designed with every comfort in mind, with giant sun pads both forward and aft, a glass windbreak wrapped around the jacuzzi, an open-air shower, and a glass-topped bar for sundowners. SLIPSTREAM has built a particular reputation as one of the most popular family-friendly yachts in her size class, thanks to an extensive toy collection that includes jet skis, seabobs, waterskis, inflatable towables, an inflatable water park and Laser sailing dinghies, alongside karaoke facilities complete with smoke and bubbles for evenings that lean a little more playful.
Powered by twin Caterpillar engines giving her a cruising speed of 14 knots, and crewed by a long-serving, charter-friendly team of 15, SLIPSTREAM splits her year between the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean in winter, with previous seasons taking her as far afield as Norway and the Maldives. For guests seeking both serious style and genuine family fun in equal measure, few yachts on the market deliver both quite as distinctively as SLIPSTREAM.
