About REBELS

Couach came to yachting from patrol boats, and REBELS never quite lets you forget it. She is hull two of the yard’s 5000 Fly series, laid up in carbon and Kevlar composite rather than steel, and the choice pays out every time she leaves an anchorage: 20 knots of cruise, 22 flat out, and a 2,750-mile range at a length where most yachts settle for twelve. Guests who want three bays in a day rather than one book her for exactly this reason.

Delivered in 2014 and styled inside by Metrica, she reads modern without shouting about it. Pale oak runs through the whole yacht, set against charcoal upholstery and black lacquer in the main salon, then softening a deck up where the skylounge takes cream sofas and a graphic rug. Windows do most of the work. In the salon they run nearly floor to ceiling; in the skylounge they wrap both sides. Light, not ornament, is the material she is built around.

The full-beam master sits forward on the main deck and is the best room aboard by a clear margin. A curved bulkhead of glass follows the sheer through nearly 180 degrees, a circular skylight drops sun onto the bed, and a private office and his-and-hers bathrooms open off the back of it. Five further cabins take the remaining guests, twelve in all: doubles with walk-through wardrobes, a twin with matched singles, all in the same quiet oak. Below them, a mosaic-tiled hammam with its own changing lobby, an unusual thing to find on a 50-metre, and a better one to find after a day on the water.

That day tends to be busy. Her toy list runs longer than yachts twice her size: two Novurania tenders, three jet skis including a stand-up Yamaha, two Seabob F9s, two eFoils, wakeboards, five sets of water skis, a Tiwal inflatable sailing dinghy and full dive equipment. On request the crew rig a four-by-two-metre inflatable platform off the transom with a swim ladder and net, which turns whatever bay she is in into a pool. The swim platform stages all of it without ever feeling crowded.

Above, the sundeck carries a jacuzzi set into a raised forward section, a barbecue, shaded seating and enough uncommitted teak to move around freely. The foredeck answers with a long sunpad and a low lounge that most guests find by the second morning. Dining happens aft on the main deck at a twelve-seat table under an overhang, with the salon doors folded fully back so inside and outside stop being separate rooms.

Ten crew run her for twelve guests, a deliberately high ratio for a yacht of this size, and one IYC lists as a selling point rather than a footnote. She works the East Mediterranean and the Adriatic through the season, which suits her: Greece, Croatia and Montenegro sit close enough together that her speed turns a cruising itinerary into a genuinely open one rather than a fixed route. Fast, quiet, well-equipped and unusually easy to move around. For active charter groups, that combination is harder to find than it should be.
