About This Is It

Almost every yacht at this length is a variation on the same hull. THIS IS IT is not. Tecnomar built her as a catamaran – 43.5 metres long and 14.5 metres wide, 758 gross tonnes, with naval architecture by Lateral – and the proportions change everything that follows. She carries the interior volume of a yacht ten metres longer, spread across a beam that never narrows, and she does it drawing 2.7 metres.

The first thing you notice is the glass. More than 600 square metres of it wraps the superstructure in a single faceted sweep, so the main deck reads as one continuous room with the sea on both sides at once. There is no dark side of this yacht. Interiors are pale – bleached timber, stone, brushed bronze, cream leather – and the light does most of the decorating.

The layout takes full advantage of the width. The main salon runs to a curved bar, a lounge and a dining table without any of them crowding the others, and the aft deck beyond it is a genuine terrace rather than a walkway. Forward, the bow opens into a sun terrace with curved seating and sunpads set into the deck. A second bar and lounge sits above, glazed on three sides.

Six staterooms sleep twelve. The primary is the clearest beneficiary of the catamaran platform: full-height sliding glass down one side opening onto its own private stretch of deck, a bed set square to the view, and a bathroom in book-matched stone. The guest staterooms below are unusually consistent – each with a hull window at eye level from the bed, each with its own stone bathroom, none of them the compromise cabin that a monohull always ends up with somewhere.

Her water programme is built around the platform between the hulls. Searaft modules assemble into a four-by-five-metre sea pool with a safety net, a double jet-ski dock, a leisure dock and a connecting corridor – a floating deck plan rather than a set of toys thrown in the water. A Technohull Alpha 50 runs as chase boat, with two GTX jet skis, four Seabobs, an eFoil, wakeboards, a kayak and a Seascooter behind it.

Detail work is consistent with the ambition. The wheelhouse is laid out around three flat screens and a pair of helm chairs with the same wraparound glazing as the guest decks, so the bridge feels like part of the yacht rather than a service space. A sculpted gold-toned stair winds between decks. Bathrooms are cut from book-matched stone rather than clad in it. None of it is loud, which is the surprise: for a yacht this radical in silhouette, the interior is remarkably calm.

Twelve crew serve twelve guests, which is a ratio usually reserved for yachts twice her length and tells you how she is meant to be run. She works the western and eastern Mediterranean through the season and adds the Middle East in winter, with the range and the shallow draft to use both properly.

Delivered in May 2024, she is still close to new, and she remains one of very few yachts of this size and type available to charter at all. For a group that has done the conventional forty-metre motor yacht and wants something that changes the shape of the week rather than the badge on the bow, she is the obvious answer.
