The Sporades are one of the most rewarding destinations in Greece for a family yacht charter. The islands are relatively uncrowded compared to the Cyclades, the sea between them is sheltered and clear, and the mix of accessible beaches, wildlife and short passages between islands creates a natural rhythm that works well for families with children of different ages.
The Alonnisos National Marine Park, covering the northeastern Sporades, is a particularly strong draw for family charters. The restriction on fishing within the park means visibility underwater is exceptional, and snorkelling over the rocky reefs and seagrass meadows around the deserted islets is among the best accessible in the Mediterranean. The park is also one of the last strongholds of the Mediterranean monk seal, and sightings, while not guaranteed, do occur.
Family charter yachts in the Sporades carry water toys, paddleboards and snorkelling gear as standard, with tenders suited to beach runs in shallow water. Many include dedicated crew able to manage children activities independently. Weekly rates range from around 50,000 euros for a 35-metre vessel to well over 300,000 euros for a large motor yacht with pool and beach club, with an advance provisioning allowance of approximately 30 percent.
The village of Glossa on Skopelos, the old town of Skiathos and the hillside capital of Alonnisos all offer easy excursions ashore, with enough variety to keep a family busy through a full week afloat.
