Explorer yachts use the Phi Phi Islands as a base for a wider range of cruising than other charter vessels typically manage. While the main sites around Ko Phi Phi Don and Ko Phi Phi Leh draw every type of yacht, an explorer vessel extends easily to the outer Andaman islands, the Similan and Surin archipelagos to the north, and the less-visited reefs of Ko Lanta and Ko Rok to the south. Self-sufficiency, range, and a well-equipped dive and tender setup change the character of what a week here can deliver.
Explorer charters in this region carry substantial fuel and water reserves, along with purpose-built tender platforms and dive equipment. Guests number six to twelve in three to six cabins, with crew experienced in extended passages and reef diving.
Weekly rates for explorer charters run from approximately 45,000 to 390,000 Euros. The advance provisioning allowance of around 30 percent covers fuel for extended passages, food, and any dive guide or specialist fees for the outer islands.
The northeast monsoon season from November through April gives settled conditions and the best visibility on the reef systems beyond the main Phi Phi group, particularly around the Similan Islands.
