Gocek Bay is the natural starting point for sailing yachts heading south along Turkey Turquoise Coast. The bay itself is sheltered enough for comfortable anchorage in almost any conditions, and its 12 islands provide several days of exploration before a yacht needs to leave its boundary. When the meltemi builds in July and August, Gocek northern orientation provides a natural wind shadow that lets sailors choose their departure timing rather than being forced out into the channel by an early blow. The four sailing yachts based in this area include offshore-capable performance cruisers and traditional two-masted gulets with broad decks and shallow draughts ideal for the shallower inner anchorages of the bay. Most carry customs paperwork for the Greek Dodecanese, since Rhodes is a day sail from Gocek on a favourable meltemi and the combined Turkish-Greek itinerary is popular with experienced charter clients. Charter rates for sailing yachts in Gocek Bay start at approximately 15,000 euros per week and rise to 70,000 euros for larger or faster vessels in high season. The advance provisioning allowance covers fuel, food, marina berthing and drinks and typically adds 25 to 30 percent to the base charter fee. May and early June are considered the best sailing months for Gocek: the meltemi is building rather than established, anchorages are quiet and rates remain below the summer peak.
