About Caner IV

Caner IV is a classic two-masted Bodrum gulet that makes a strong case on value: a fully crewed 36-metre yacht for twelve guests, with the character and craftsmanship of a hand-built Turkish boat, at a weekly rate well below what a comparable motor yacht commands. Built in 2008 and refitted in 2019 and again in 2022, she carries a schooner rig with enough sail to move under canvas between the coves she calls home.

Her decks are generous and shaded, which is what matters most on a Turkish summer charter. Forward, curved timber seating and broad sunpads wrap the bow, a private place to lie in the sun with the water a step away. Aft, a full-beam deck under a fixed bimini holds a comfortable lounge on one side and a long dining table on the other, so meals, drinks and lazy afternoons all happen in the shade with the sea alongside. A passerelle drops to the transom for easy swimming and access to the tender.

Inside, the saloon is warm and traditional, panelled throughout in honey-toned timber with a comfortable lounge, a dining table and a curved bar. A run of windows keeps the anchorage in view, and the room reads as one open social space rather than a series of small compartments. It is the natural place to gather out of the midday heat or when an evening turns cool, and its joinery marks her out as a genuinely hand-built yacht.

Accommodation runs to six cabins for up to twelve guests, a mix of doubles and twins finished in the same rich mahogany with soft green accents, crisp linens and good storage. Each has its own en-suite in stone and timber. The spread of double and twin cabins suits a large family or a group of friends sharing, giving couples, parents and children their own quarters below while the decks stay sociable above.

A crew of seven runs her with the easy hospitality Turkish gulets are known for, trimming sail, tending the tender and the toys, laying tables and cooking to the group’s taste. Meals are prepared aboard and built around what guests want, from a long lazy breakfast at anchor to dinner served on the aft deck as the light fades. A full complement of water toys comes along, jet skis, a tender, kayaks, a surfboard and towed inflatables, staged so the move from anchor to open water takes only a moment, and the crew handle the whole day so guests decide little beyond where to swim next.

Her cruising grounds are the bays and islands around Bodrum, the wider Turkish coast and the nearby Greek islands, quiet anchorages where a shallow-draft gulet feels most at home. Progress is unhurried at a cruising ten knots, because the point of a week aboard Caner IV is the anchorage and the swimming, not the passage. For families and groups who want the full gulet experience, generous space, a warm crew and honest value, she is an easy and rewarding way to spend a Turkish and Greek summer.
