Barbuda Superyacht Charter

Barbuda is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful islands in the eastern Caribbean, a low-lying coral island lying north of its sister Antigua. Pristine, tranquil and refreshingly undeveloped, it is celebrated for its endless deserted beaches and clear turquoise water, offering a rare taste of the Caribbean at its most natural and serene.

The island is famous above all for its spectacular beaches, above all the astonishing seventeen-mile stretch of pink-tinged sand along its western shore, one of the longest and most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and often entirely deserted. Its soft, rose-coloured sand and calm turquoise shallows are simply breathtaking.

Barbuda is also home to a remarkable frigatebird sanctuary, one of the largest in the world, set in its tranquil lagoon, along with pristine reefs offering superb snorkelling and diving. Beautiful coves and clear water reward exploration all along its unspoilt coast.

Ashore, the island offers a warm, gentle welcome, fresh seafood and a profound sense of peace, far from any crowds. Its natural beauty and tranquillity are exceptional.

With its endless pink-sand beaches and clear turquoise waters, Barbuda is a pristine Caribbean paradise. Guests can relax on deserted rose-tinted sands, visit a remarkable frigatebird sanctuary and enjoy the unspoilt beauty and profound peace of this beautiful island.

Barbuda Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Barbuda, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
When's the best time to charter around Barbuda?

December through April brings the driest, calmest weather and the clearest views of the frigatebird colony, which nests from September through March. Atlantic hurricane season runs June to November, and Barbuda, low-lying and fully exposed with no high ground to break a storm, is particularly vulnerable, as Hurricane Irma showed in 2017. Outside that window, the island’s shallow leeward water stays calm for swimming most of the year.

How do you actually get to Barbuda?

Burton-Nibbs International Airport, which opened in October 2024 with a 6,100-foot runway roughly four times longer than the old Codrington strip it replaced, now takes light jets and turboprops direct from Antigua and beyond. Most charter guests still arrive by boat, a crossing of around ninety minutes from Antigua, or fly into Antigua’s V.C. Bird International and join their yacht already anchored off the island.

Where's the best place to anchor at Barbuda?

Coco Point, on the sheltered southern tip, offers the calmest water and some of the healthiest coral along the coast. River Wharf and the beaches near it give the easiest dinghy access into Codrington for provisioning or a meal ashore. In a genuine blow, Spanish Point on the northeast corner can provide a more protected alternative, though it lies a longer tender ride from the village.

How many days should we spend at Barbuda?

One or two days suits most itineraries, enough for a boat trip through Codrington Lagoon to the frigatebird colony, a walk or swim along Princess Diana Beach, and perhaps an afternoon exploring the caves at Two Foot Bay. With so little built infrastructure and few restaurants outside Codrington, most charter guests treat Barbuda as a striking detour from Antigua rather than a multi-day base.

Has Barbuda recovered from Hurricane Irma?

Largely, yes. The Category 5 storm destroyed more than ninety percent of the island’s buildings in September 2017 and forced a complete evacuation, the first time in roughly three centuries Barbuda stood entirely empty. Codrington has since been substantially rebuilt, the population has grown past two thousand, and a new international airport opened in 2024, though some structures beyond the main town still show the storm’s scars.
