About AK ROYALTY

Some yachts ask to be noticed. AK ROYALTY does not have to ask. Her hull and superstructure are finished in gold, and at 41.4 metres she is the most immediately recognisable thing in most anchorages she enters. Palmer Johnson built her in 2009 to the sport-yacht formula the yard defined – low, wide, aluminium, and fast – and a 2023 refit brought the interior up to date without softening any of it.

Speed is not decoration here. Two 3,650hp MTUs push her to 33 knots, and she cruises at 24 on a draft of just 1.8 metres. That combination matters in the Gulf, where the water is shallow, the distances between islands are short and the difference between arriving at lunchtime and arriving at dusk is an hour of throttle. She is based in the UAE and cruises there year-round.

The interior is monochrome – cream, black and pale wood – which reads as a deliberate counterweight to the exterior rather than an extension of it. The main saloon runs the full width of the deck, glazed down both sides, with low sectionals in cream, black-and-white geometric cushions, a Greek-key rug and mirrored panels set into the ceiling. Forward of it, the dining room seats ten around a stone table beneath a mirrored ceiling panel, with a backlit portrait of a white lion filling the forward bulkhead. It is confident rather than restrained, and it is entirely consistent with the exterior.

Twelve guests sleep in five cabins – three doubles and two twins – with the master and VIP both finished in the same graphite-and-gold palette, and the master’s bathroom lined in book-matched stone. Seven crew run the yacht.

The main deck aft is where she was designed to be used. A full bar with stools sits to one side, a barbecue grill to the other, a dining table for ten runs down the centre, and a DJ console with its own speaker system is built into the deck furniture rather than wheeled out for the occasion. At night, with the deck lighting on and the gold paint catching it, the space does something no white hull manages.

Forward, the bow carries a deep sun pad and loose chairs around a stone table, reached along wide side decks. Above, the sun deck holds the jacuzzi, a shaded massage area and the gym equipment – treadmill, boxing gear, resistance bands and yoga mats laid out in the open air rather than shut in a room below.

Her toy list is built for a young charter party rather than a quiet one. Matching gold jetskis, a stand-up jetski, three SeaBobs, two underwater scooters, a flyboard, an eFoil, paddleboards, a wakeboard and waterskis all launch from the stern, alongside an anti-jellyfish pool, a climbing wall, a trampoline and a waterslide. She carries scuba equipment, a water drone, and an RYA training centre for jetskis and waverunners, so guests leave certified rather than merely entertained. The chase tender is an 11.7-metre RIB on twin 300hp outboards, new for 2025.

AK ROYALTY is not a yacht for people who want to blend in. She is precise about what she is, and she does it better than most.
