K2 is a striking 49.9-metre motor yacht built by the Italian shipyard Columbus Yachts, part of the Palumbo Group, and delivered in 2021 as one of only a handful of brand-new yachts in her size range to launch that year. A Columbus Sport S50 model, she was styled inside and out by the acclaimed Florence-based designer Luca Dini, with naval architecture developed in collaboration with Hydro Tec, and she is a genuine head-turner, her extremely modern, sporty design defined by a razor-sharp vertical bow, sharp hull lines and dynamic, well-balanced proportions. Commissioned by a repeat Columbus client as his third project with the yard, she reflects the personality of her owner: elegant, refined and demanding, but also sporty, open-minded and a traveller at heart. Built on a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure over three decks, she is fast and efficient, reaching a top speed of over 20 knots while cruising economically thanks to her fine, sharp bow and advanced Naiad interceptor and fin stabilisation, and she was engineered with a transatlantic range and a notably shallow 2.2-metre draught, chosen by the owner specifically to allow relaxed cruising close to shore and in shallow waters such as the Bahamas. Her interior, by Luca Dini, is one of the finest afloat, full of natural light thanks to an extensive use of glass and finished in a clean, luminous, contemporary style with light wood floors, beige upholstery and touches of glossy wood and marble, maintaining a decisive yet relaxing atmosphere throughout. The main deck offers an open, glazed lounge with a dedicated bar, while a full-size gym adds to her wealth of amenities. Life on deck is exceptional and thoughtfully zoned. Her spacious foredeck is a highlight, featuring a large jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads and a dining table, while the upper deck offers a further forward jacuzzi and a dining area for twelve in the stern, and a beach club at the waterline gives direct access to the sea and her extensive collection of toys. Underwater lights add spectacle and style after dark. Accommodation is arranged for up to 11 guests in five sumptuously appointed en-suite staterooms. The master suite is a stately, private retreat crafted with meticulous attention to detail and the finest materials, blending modern luxury with timeless elegance, while four further cabins, comprising a flexible mix of double and twin configurations, complete comfortable accommodation for family and friends, all finished in the same light, contemporary style. A highly professional crew of 11, accommodated in seven cabins forward, ensures an exceptional guest-to-crew ratio and highly personalised service throughout. Powered by twin MTU engines, K2 combines genuine speed with efficient, comfortable cruising, consuming remarkably little fuel for a yacht of her performance. Cruising the western Mediterranean in summer and the Bahamas and Caribbean in winter, where her shallow draught comes into its own, K2 offers charter guests a rare combination of sporty, contemporary design, light-filled interiors, standout deck spaces and genuine long-range capability aboard one of the most appealing new yachts of her size on the charter market.
