SWEET VIRGINIA is a Sanlorenzo SL96A delivered in 2022, and she is one of the more current boats in her size on the Caribbean charter market. The SL96A is the yard’s compact flagship for the under-30-metre class, and what sets this one apart is restraint: a light, contemporary interior that takes its colour from the water rather than from ornament, wrapped in glass so the sea is present in every room. For eight guests who want something modern and calm rather than gilded, she is a precise fit.
The main deck is handled as one open, bright volume. The salon is glazed almost floor to ceiling on both sides, finished in pale fabrics and light timber, and it flows aft to the dining deck and forward to an interior dining table against the forward glazing without a bulkhead to interrupt it. The effect is a single living space that changes character through the day, lit end to end without artificial light and open to the breeze when the glazing retracts. The galley sits forward of the dining table, which keeps service quick and unobtrusive.
Below, eight guests sleep in four cabins. The master runs the full beam with a low berth, hull windows on both sides at pillow height and a dressing area and ensuite forward, finished in the same light scheme with navy accents. Three further cabins complete the accommodation, each with its own ensuite in matching stone, and the layout flexes with a convertible arrangement for families. A crew of five runs her, and the brief stretches to the detail: Starlink throughout, a karaoke machine, Bluetooth audio and a pet-friendly policy that is rarer than it should be.
Her outdoor spaces are where she earns her keep in the islands. The main aft deck is the outdoor dining room, a long table under the overhang with a settee wrapping the transom and the beach club a step below at sea level. Above, the flybridge opens into the largest single space on board, a full-beam social deck with a wraparound settee, a wet bar, a grill and shaded dining under a partial hardtop. It is the deck guests migrate to for the view and stay on for the breeze.
She is fully stabilised, at anchor and underway, which on the open crossings between the Virgin Islands matters as much as any toy, and it is what makes a flat night at anchor possible in an exposed bay. Her toy inventory is built for a warm-water week: a 28-foot Pursuit tender, a three-seat Sea-Doo, Sublue sea scooters, inflatable paddleboards, a floating Aquabana cabana, snorkelling gear and more.
Powered by twin MTU V16 diesels for a 20-knot cruise and 24 at the top, SWEET VIRGINIA covers ground easily between anchorages while keeping the week built around swimming, diving and shore time rather than passage-making. For a family or two couples who want a genuinely modern Sanlorenzo and the island life that comes with her, she is an easy yacht to recommend.
