The 28CC wears Bertram’s deep V heritage in a clean, uncluttered profile.
A glossy white gel coat hull and non skid deck surfaces keep the lines simple, in keeping with a boat meant to work rather than to pose. The hardtop and windshield combination adds shelter at the helm without interrupting the low, purposeful sheer that has defined Bertram’s centre consoles for decades. A moulded swim platform with a reboarding ladder closes the transom neatly, and stainless rails and fittings throughout give the deck a finished look that holds up to saltwater use. It is a design built around function first, with the styling following naturally from that discipline.
Forty knots at the top end and a 30 knot cruise put real distance between the 28CC and a slow trip offshore.
Twin 300 horsepower outboards drive her, with a Yamaha pairing and a larger 350 horsepower Mercury option available for owners who want more in reserve. A shallow 0.80 metre draught keeps the flats and inshore water within reach, while the deep V hull underneath softens the ride once the sea builds. Fuel capacity runs to 700 litres, giving her the legs for a full day running offshore and back without planning a fuel stop around the trip.
Eight guests have room to fish, cruise or simply relax without getting in each other’s way.
Wraparound seating at the bow and a forward facing console seat give the 28CC real versatility between cruising and fishing modes, and a fibreglass table on adjustable mounts turns the cockpit into a dining space when the rods are stowed. A baitwell, in floor fish boxes with pump out and multiple rod holders keep the serious fishing gear close at hand without cluttering the deck. An enclosed head with a vanity and shower adds a genuine comfort touch rarely found on a boat this size.
Every space on the 28CC earns its place in a tight, purposeful footprint.
A console utility centre with a cutting board and cooler storage sits within reach of the helm, and a transom walkthrough door connects the cockpit to the swim platform without breaking up the seating. Six pop up stainless cleats and a remote controlled windlass keep the anchoring and docking hardware out of the way until it is needed, while a bow locker with drainage stows the anchor cleanly. The result is a deck that can switch between a morning of fishing and an afternoon of cruising without anyone having to move gear out of the way first.
The 28CC is Bertram’s way of putting six decades of deep V engineering within reach of a wider range of owners.
She is built to exceed ISO Category B standards, with a self bailing cockpit, automatic and manual bilge pumps and twin fire extinguishers as standard safety measures. A touchscreen helm display handles engine monitoring and digital throttle and shift, while an onboard sound system covers the deck and bow. Bertram’s own engineering department oversees construction, carrying forward the vinylester resin build and moulded stringers that have underpinned the yard’s reputation for durability since 1960.
