A two-tone hull does more work than most owners realise.
Red Yacht Design set a pale grey midsection against a white sheer and superstructure, a simple move that keeps 28 metres of hull from reading as heavy set, a risk at this length and beam. The proportions are tight for her size: a 6 metre beam and a 1.5 metre draught that favour shallower anchorages over raw volume. Large windows run the length of the hullside, pulling daylight into the lower deck spaces rather than leaving them reliant on portholes, a detail more common on yachts well above her size. The overall effect is restrained rather than showy, substance expressed through proportion rather than ornament.
The machinery disappears so the deck space doesn’t have to.
Mazu’s engineers tucked the propulsion beneath the beach club rather than running it conventionally through the hull, freeing genuine usable deck space at the stern. A Volvo Penta pod drive system is offered as an alternative to the standard twin MAN V12 engines, giving owners a choice between outright performance and smoother, quieter cruising. On the standard configuration she cruises at 25 knots, reaches 30 at full throttle, and carries 8,000 litres of fuel for a 400 nautical mile range. It is a layout built around the idea that engineering should earn its keep in usable space, not just raw numbers.
The cabins hide their hardware.
Door handles disappear entirely. Each cabin door opens on gentle pressure instead, a quiet, almost frictionless detail that sets the tone for the whole interior. A quartzite feature wall in gold tones runs through three decks, the kind of material commitment that only makes sense when a designer is thinking about the yacht as a continuous space rather than a series of rooms. Red Yacht Design split the main saloon across two levels, upper and lower areas with distinct characters but a shared material language. Four cabins sleep eight guests, modest by headline numbers but generous in finish, with crew quarters for four kept entirely separate and reached by their own stairway.
The beach club is the real destination.
An expansive swim platform folds out into additional terrace space at anchor, turning the stern into the yacht’s social centre rather than an afterthought. A motorised lift handles tenders up to seven metres, tucked away rather than left on deck eating into usable space. It connects directly to the lower saloon, so the route from swimming to shade to a drink at the bar never feels like a detour. By day she comfortably hosts twelve for lunch or sundowners, moving easily between the beach club, the saloon levels and the open deck above without the layout ever feeling like a compromise.
She carries real engineering for her price.
Mazu was founded by Halit Yukay in 2011 and builds at Altinova in Turkey, a yard that has moved quickly from newcomer to a credible name in the 90 to 130 foot bracket. The 92 DS is classed by RINA, with naval architecture by Profjord and styling throughout by Red Yacht Design, a combination that ties her engineering and her styling together convincingly. At around six million for an 80 tonne yacht with four cabins and crew space for four, she holds her own against the composite competition on design pedigree even where she matches them on price. For an owner weighing build quality and design credentials against the usual compromises of a mid-size motor yacht, that is a genuine point of difference.
