Neel Trimarans / NEEL 43
The NEEL 43 is the smallest trimaran in the NEEL range and the model that has introduced most owners to the three hull idea. At just over 13 metres it is designed to be handled easily by a couple or a small crew, yet it carries the volume and the single level living of a much larger catamaran. The defining feature is the Cockloon, a continuous indoor and outdoor space where the saloon, galley and chart table sit level with and open straight onto the cockpit, so the whole of life on board takes place on one bright deck with the sea always in view. Below, the standard layout offers three double cabins, with the owner enjoying a full width suite in the central hull. A DUO layout is also available that removes the forward cabin to create more generous volumes and a second heads, a popular choice for couples who cruise as two. Marc Lombard drew a hull that is genuinely fast and safe, happy to reach at speed yet easily depowered, and the shallow 1.51 metre draft opens up anchorages that deeper yachts cannot reach. A Volvo Penta 50 saildrive handles manoeuvring and calms. Light, stable and quick, the NEEL 43 is both fun at anchor and efficient on passage, a true pocket ocean cruiser.

With a displacement of only nine tonnes and three slender hulls, the NEEL 43 accelerates readily and holds a fast, flat reach in moderate air. The rig is sized to be managed by a short handed crew, and the yacht depowers gently rather than fighting the helm when a gust arrives. The central hull carries the weight low, which gives a sea kindly motion on passage, while the shallow 1.51 metre draft lets the 43 tuck into anchorages that monohulls of the same length must pass by.
The heart of the 43 is the Cockloon, NEEL’s single level living concept. The saloon, galley and navigation station sit at cockpit height and open directly aft, so cooking, steering, eating and relaxing all happen in one connected, light filled space with panoramic views. There is no climbing up and down between living areas, which makes the yacht feel larger than its length and keeps the crew together whether at anchor or under way.
The standard NEEL 43 sleeps up to six guests in three double cabins, with a full width owner’s suite set into the central hull and further cabins in the floats. For couples who cruise as two, the DUO layout deletes the forward cabin to open up the volumes and add a second heads. Either way the accommodation is bright, with good headroom and natural light throughout, and the single level saloon above means the sleeping areas stay quiet and private.
The NEEL 43 is built in composite in La Rochelle and is offered new from around 549,000 euros before tax and options, positioning it as an accessible route into serious trimaran ownership. It has a strong following on the brokerage market thanks to its proven ocean ability and its easy short handed handling. For a buyer weighing a cruising catamaran, the 43 offers comparable volume and level living with a quicker, more sea kindly ride, from a yard that builds nothing but trimarans.
