Neel Trimarans / NEEL 48
The NEEL 48 is the newest trimaran in the NEEL range and sits at its heart as the successor to the long running 47. Drawn by Marc Lombard with an interior by Piaton Yacht Design, it was created for serious long distance cruising, pairing exceptional space with the remarkable stability and easy motion that define the three hull form. The centrepiece is a 5.80 metre wide saloon that wraps around panoramic glazing, part of NEEL’s single level Cockloon concept in which the living space, galley and helm flow straight out into the cockpit so the whole of life on board happens on one connected deck. A single level owner’s cabin sits forward with direct access to the sea, a layout that feels more like an apartment than a yacht interior. Practical cruising detail runs throughout, from a dedicated navigation station and a centralised technical room to integrated stowage for the tender and equipment. The limited 1.75 metre draft, reducing to 1.55 metres in the performance version, lets the 48 explore shallow waters that keep larger yachts offshore. Power comes from a Volvo 60 saildrive, with a 25 kW hybrid system available for owners who want quiet, emission free time at anchor. Stable, spacious and genuinely built for the ocean, the NEEL 48 is the model most likely to tempt a cruising couple out of a catamaran.

The NEEL 48 was conceived for long distance cruising, and the three hull platform gives it the stability and the sea kindly motion that make real passages comfortable. Displacement is kept to 11.5 tonnes, the Marc Lombard hull reaches and runs easily, and the rig is arranged for short handed sailing. A limited draft of 1.75 metres, or 1.55 metres in the performance version, means the 48 can explore shallow bays and reef anchorages that deeper yachts must admire from a distance.
At the core of the 48 is a 5.80 metre wide saloon wrapped in panoramic glazing, part of NEEL’s single level Cockloon concept. The galley, chart table and living area sit level with the cockpit and open straight out to it, so the crew cooks, steers, eats and relaxes in one bright, connected space. The result is an interior volume that feels closer to a loft than a yacht, with sightlines to the sea from almost every seat on board.
A standout feature of the 48 is the single level owner’s cabin set forward, with generous volume and direct access to the sea, a private suite that reads more like an apartment than a traditional yacht berth. Guest accommodation and a dedicated navigation station complete the interior, while a centralised technical room keeps systems accessible and integrated stowage swallows the tender and cruising equipment. The accommodation detail reflects a yacht designed by people who clearly cruise.
The NEEL 48 is built in composite in La Rochelle and offered new at an indicative price around 989,000 euros before tax, depending on specification and on the choice between the standard and performance drafts. A 25 kW hybrid drive is available alongside the standard Volvo 60 saildrive for owners who value silent, emission free time at anchor. As the newest and most refined model in the range, and the direct heir to the successful 47, the 48 is expected to be the volume seller and to hold its value strongly.
