Ten guests on a twenty one foot boat sounds optimistic. It is not.
A U shaped bench wraps almost the entire cockpit, starting just behind the helm seat, and a wide social seat with a flip over backrest lets a passenger choose between facing forward or aft. The bench corners are cut at 45 degrees with leg notches built into the base cushions, a small detail that makes a real difference once six or seven people are sitting around the cockpit for an afternoon. A full width sun pad covers the area near the bow, and the starboard third of the bench pivots up to open a clean transom walk through to the swim platform. Nothing about the layout feels squeezed, which is rare for a boat this size.
The hull does the real work, long before the styling gets any credit.
Regal’s FasTrac design pairs a deep vee forward section, built to handle chop, with a full beam step that introduces air beneath the rear of the hull to cut drag and improve both speed and fuel economy. Reverse chines and large lifting strakes add stability at rest and predictability in a turn. Outboard power frees up the space a sterndrive engine box would otherwise occupy, so what would be an engine compartment becomes a lazarette for watersports gear and general stowage instead. The swim platform splits around the outboard but is wider on both sides as a result, with a covered boarding ladder set into the starboard side for a clean return from the water.

Standard power comes from a Yamaha F150 outboard, with 175 and 200 horsepower options available for owners who want more in reserve. The 21 OBX reaches a 40 knot top end and holds a 30 knot cruise, cornering aggressively yet predictably in a range of conditions thanks to the FasTrac hull’s reverse chines and lifting strakes. A 166 litre fuel tank gives a realistic range of around 150 nautical miles, enough for a full day running between anchorages and back without a second thought about fuel. For a boat this size, the combination of quick acceleration and composed handling is the real achievement, more than the top speed number alone.
Storage is where the outboard layout pays its biggest dividend.
Bow lockers with hinged seat backs open onto generous stowage in both the port and starboard consoles, while the lazarette left behind by the outboard swallows paddleboards, fenders and fishing gear that a sterndrive 21 footer would have nowhere to put. At the helm, a Garmin touchscreen replaces most traditional gauges and handles chart plotting alongside engine data, and a Fusion audio system with six cockpit speakers and Bluetooth streaming covers the social side of the layout. The anchor and ground tackle stow forward and clear of the seating area, keeping the cockpit uncluttered from the moment guests step aboard to the moment the boat is back on the trailer.
Underneath the styling is a hull with a real engineering idea behind it.
