The standard Volvo Penta engine, with options running up to 350 horsepower, gives the LS4 Surf genuine cruising pace once the ballast is drained and the surf system switched off. Forward facing propulsion, set ahead of the lower unit rather than behind it, lets the drive trim shape the wake while underway and then settle the boat flat and efficient once it is time to head home. It is this dual character, proper sports boat performance alongside a dedicated surf system, that separates her from boats built purely for towing at low speed.

A 22 inch bow passage and a filler cushion between the forward seats turn the bow into a proper lounge when the anchor goes down, while the cockpit lockers open on gas struts to swallow a cooler and the battery without blocking the walkway. Twin touchscreen displays at the helm replace the analogue gauges older sport boats still rely on, controlling the digital throttle, the ballast and the surf tabs from one place. Day capacity for eight keeps the boat practical for a full crew without crowding the cockpit when the wake system is running.

Fuel capacity sits at 212 litres, matched to a hull light enough to stay efficient even once the ballast bladders are filled for a surf session. Ballast itself totals 2,000 lb across a centre bag and two aft bladders, emptied in minutes once the wake is no longer needed so the same tank of fuel is not spent hauling unnecessary weight on the way home. Composite partitions keep the ballast bladders well clear of the engine bay, a detail that matters on a boat that spends as much time with full ballast as it does running light.
