Twenty five knots at cruise and forty at the top, numbers that make the SPX 190 genuinely quick for her size.
Power comes standard from a MerCruiser 4.5L MPI Alpha I sterndrive, with a 150 horsepower Mercury outboard or a MerCruiser 4.5L MPI Bravo III available for owners who prefer a different drive configuration. A nineteen degree deadrise hull gives her confident, predictable handling, holding a clean line through turns without the chine walking that catches out lighter bowriders. At a 0.9 metre draught she can get close to shorelines that bigger yachts in the collection cannot reach, and 113 litres of fuel carry her 150 nautical miles at cruise, plenty for a full day of running between beaches and anchorages.
She is styled with the same confidence as Sea Ray’s larger models, just distilled.
An angular, tinted windscreen and a folding centre walkthrough give the bow a sporty profile without sacrificing access to the water. A full beam swim platform sits at the stern with a recessed four rung ladder, making her easy to board from a swim or from the beach. The padded engine box doubles as a sun pad for one or a bench for three, a small but telling detail that shows how carefully the deck has been planned. Positioned between Sea Ray’s Sport and SLX ranges, the SPX 190 borrows the detailing of the larger boats and applies it to the smallest hull the yard builds.
There is no cabin to retreat to, and that is rather the point.
Eight guests can come aboard for the day, spread across a cockpit bench for three, a convertible port bench that folds into a companion seat or a lounger, and forward seating for two or three more. A self draining cooler sits built in under the aft bench, with further storage in a centreline board locker, so there is somewhere for everything before the boat ever leaves the dock. At the helm, analogue gauges and a power assisted, tilt adjustable wheel keep the controls simple and direct. Nothing here needs explaining before a first time guest can relax and enjoy the ride.
Built to be customised, from watersports to fishing to simple cruising.
A wakeboard tower and ski package convert her into a capable watersports platform, while an All Sport specification adds casting chairs, rod storage and a livewell for owners who would rather fish than ski. A Select specification brings LED lighting, a premium dash and upgraded upholstery, proof that the entry point into a range does not have to feel like one. Every build is NMMA certified, and the breadth of configuration options means two SPX 190s can be set up for entirely different days on the water without either feeling like a compromise.
A direct, honest way into the collection.
At 5.9 metres with a 2.5 metre beam, the SPX 190 carries a new price of 45,000, making her the most accessible model in the collection by a wide margin. Naval architecture, exterior and interior design all come from the Sea Ray Design Team, with engineering handled in house by Sea Ray’s own engineering department, the same disciplines applied to every boat the yard builds. For a first yacht, a second boat for a larger estate, or simply an owner who wants genuine Sea Ray quality without the scale, the SPX 190 is a straightforward and well judged choice.
