Forty knots is the headline figure, but how she gets there matters more.
The standard single Volvo Penta D6-400 puts her at a 29 knot cruise and a 40 knot top speed, with a twin Volvo Penta D4-230 setup or twin Volvo Penta OB 400 outboards available for owners who want sharper acceleration and simpler engine access at the stern. At 6.3 tonnes and with an 800 litre tank, she covers around 300 nautical miles between fills, all on a draught of just 1.10 metres, shallow enough for anchorages a deeper hulled yacht of this size would have to avoid.
She cuts through chop the way a smaller boat rarely manages.
The fibreglass sandwich hull, built around a urethane foam core, gives her both stiffness and a predictable, settled ride in open water. With outboard power fitted, acceleration sharpens and the boat comes onto the plane faster and more cleanly, while trim tabs become almost an afterthought, the hull holding its line through tight turns and evasive manoeuvres with little drama. An 80 kilogram bow thruster comes as standard, backed by its own battery, and an optional joystick removes the need for a stern thruster altogether. It is precisely this blend of composure and control that has made the Targa 32 a genuine working boat for Nordic water police, not just a leisure craft dressed for the part.
Function draws every line on deck.
The pilothouse and angular silhouette that have defined Targa for decades remain untouched, along with the wraparound side decks that let crew move forward safely in any weather. The clearest break from tradition sits at the stern, where twin outboards replace the usual inboard drives, opening up the swim platform and simplifying engine access. A teak finished running deck is available for owners who want a warmer, more tactile surface underfoot, and the whole package still reads unmistakably as a Targa: purposeful rather than decorative, built to be used hard rather than simply admired.
Below deck, the Targa 32 trades flash for usefulness.
The saloon centres on a U shaped sofa and coffee table set on a slightly raised platform, with the front passenger seat folding flat to extend the seating when the boat is at rest. Down below, two cabins sleep up to five: a double to port and a single to starboard in the main cabin, lit by openable hull windows, and a forward cabin that can be specified with a central double bed, brass lamps and wood panelling in place of the standard layout. The wet room is built for proper use over several days at sea, not just a quick rinse after swimming, and the whole interior carries Targa’s own in house design throughout.
The 32 sits at the heart of the Targa range for good reason.
Naval architecture, engineering and both interior and exterior design stay in house with Botnia Marin, keeping every element of the boat consistent with the yard’s own philosophy rather than a patchwork of outside suppliers. New, she starts at around 350,000 euros, carries eight guests for the day and five overnight across two cabins, and asks for a single crew member to run her. The outboard option widens her appeal further still, giving an owner who wants Targa’s proven seaworthiness the choice of sharper, more contemporary handling without changing anything about what makes the boat trustworthy in the first place.
