M/S Myra is a classic sailing schooner, a steel-hulled gulet built by Ege Yat in 2003 and given a full refit in 2021 and 2022. At just under thirty metres she carries twelve guests in six cabins with a crew of six, and she pairs the character of a traditional motor-sailor with the comfort expected of a modern charter yacht. Gloss-varnished bulwarks, wide teak decks and two raked masts give her a distinctive presence at anchor and a graceful line under sail.
The heart of life aboard is the raised deckhouse saloon, a bright, wood-panelled room wrapped in large windows that let in the light and the view. Two dining tables to port seat all twelve guests together, while a comfortable lounge with a coffee table sits to starboard for quieter moments indoors. Teak-and-holly floors, fine joinery and a warm mahogany finish run throughout, and a flat-screen television and sound system are on hand for the evenings.
Accommodation is arranged over six en-suite cabins. Four double cabins sit forward of the saloon and two twin cabins lie aft, each finished in the same rich woodwork and each with its own bathroom. The layout suits a large family or a group of friends, giving everyone a private space to retreat to while keeping the shared living areas generous and sociable.
Outdoor living is where a gulet like Myra really comes into her own. The aft deck carries a spacious alfresco dining area and comfortable seating shaded by a permanent bimini, with aft-facing sunbeds for lazing after lunch. More sunbeds on the foredeck catch the breeze under sail or the sun at anchor, and the wide teak side decks with their high rails make it easy and safe to move around the yacht wherever she lies.
Under sail she is an easy, graceful cruiser rather than a racer, and her engine is always there when the wind drops, which is why a boat of this type is known as a motor-sailor. That combination makes her well suited to relaxed island-hopping, moving from a morning swim in a quiet bay to an afternoon under canvas and an evening tied up near a harbour town for dinner ashore. The Aegean and its scattered islands are natural cruising grounds for a yacht of her character, with short hops between anchorages and plenty of sheltered coves to spend the night at rest.
Her tender and toy locker keeps the days on the water busy, with a Zodiac tender, two paddleboards, an inflatable kayak, sea wings, a large inflatable swimming platform, water skis, a wakeboard, and snorkelling and fishing gear for eight. The swim steps at the stern make getting in and out of the sea simple for guests of every age.
A professional crew of six looks after the sailing, the cooking and the service, so guests can settle into the slow rhythm of a sailing holiday without a task to think about. Warm, characterful and built for sociable weeks afloat, M/S Myra offers a genuinely traditional Mediterranean sailing experience with the space and comfort to carry a full party of twelve in style.
