About The Wellesley

THE WELLESLEY is a supremely elegant 56.2-metre motor yacht that brings the glamour of a grand boutique hotel to the open sea, originally built by the renowned Dutch shipyard Oceanco in 1993 and transformed by a comprehensive rebuild, refit and seven-metre extension completed by Sunrise Yachts in 2016, with further updates since. Named after The Wellesley, her owner’s celebrated art-deco hotel in Knightsbridge, she mirrors the hotel’s 1920s design and invites guests to experience the same exceptional personal service, fine dining and meticulous attention to detail on board a private superyacht. Her elegant interior, crafted by Donald Starkey and Dennis Irvine of Dennis Irvine Studios, who also designed the hotel, optimises 1920s Art Deco glamour, with rich mahogany panelling, exquisite marbles, warm tones and chic soft furnishings creating a rich, inviting atmosphere throughout. Built on a full-displacement steel hull with a GRP superstructure over three decks and fitted with an ultra-modern stabilisation system for exceptional comfort, she cruises at around 13 to 14 knots with a top speed of 16 knots and a long range from her generous fuel tanks. A standout of her main salon is a bespoke humidor housing a collection of the world’s finest cigars alongside an impressive whiskey bar, complemented by a sky lounge with 180-degree panoramic views and a formal dining area that seats all guests. Life on deck is exceptional, and she boasts some of the largest open deck spaces of any yacht her size, ideal for entertaining family and friends or hosting events in privacy. Luscious teak spaces span her three decks, from the shaded aft deck with ample wicker lounge seating to an upper deck for entertaining with alfresco dining, while the sundeck is a glorious focal point with a huge bar and barbecue, chaise longues, sun pads and a deluxe jacuzzi, and a beach club at the water’s edge offers a seamless connection to the sea. A gym, massage services, an approved RYA watersports centre and an extensive array of toys complete her outstanding offering. Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests in six beautifully appointed en-suite cabins, including two masters of equal standing. The upper-deck master enjoys incredible floor-to-ceiling views, a king bed and a walk-in closet, with an interconnecting convertible twin alongside, ideal for families, while a further guest cabin sits forward on the main deck. The lower deck hosts a spectacular 30-square-metre full-beam second master with a king bed, a huge walk-in closet and a lavish en-suite with a hot tub, along with a queen cabin and a convertible twin, all en-suite and finished in the same refined Art Deco style. A dedicated crew of twelve delivers five-star, hotel-standard service throughout. THE WELLESLEY cruises the Mediterranean, from the French Riviera and Monaco to the Balearics, Corsica, Sardinia, Italy and Croatia, and offers charter guests a rare combination of hotel-grade service, spectacular Art Deco interiors, a cigar-and-whiskey club and enormous deck spaces aboard one of the most characterful charter yachts of her size on the market, equally suited to family holidays and corporate events. With her rare blend of hotel-grade hospitality, characterful design and generous space, together with a competitive charter rate for a yacht of her size and pedigree, THE WELLESLEY represents an outstanding choice for discerning families and groups seeking a distinctive and memorable Mediterranean charter. She is available through Cecil Wright and Partners at rates from EUR 230,000 per week plus expenses.
